MADRID, April 29 (Reuters) - Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Saturday announced the government would invest 1.3 billion euros ($1.43 billion) in vocational training. The measure will be approved at next week's cabinet meeting and will create 45,000 bilingual vocational training places, 824 new training centres and more than 1,500 classrooms for applied technology and entrepreneurship. "It is the biggest commitment to vocational training that any government has ever made," Sanchez said during a Socialist Party event in Pamplona. "We are creating more and better jobs... and the best tool is to bet on quality vocational training, like the most advanced countries in Europe," he said. The new investment joins the 6.6 billion the government has already invested, Sanchez said.

MADRID, March 4 (Reuters) - Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Saturday announced a gender equality law that will require more equal representation of women and men in politics, business and other spheres of public life. The Equal Representation Law will apply gender parity measures to electoral lists, the boards of directors of big companies and governing boards of professional associations. He said the government was "not only taking a step in favour of feminism, but in favour of Spanish society as a whole". In politics, the law will require parties to offer equal numbers of male and female candidates during elections, with the aim of increasing gender parity in parliament.

Everyone's relationship with food is different, which is not a bad thing — depending on what that relationship looks like. If you find you have a difficult or challenging relationship with food, you might want to consider a way of eating that is guided by your personal experience, rather than outside influence, like intuitive eating, according to Wendy Lopez, a registered dietitian. "With intuitive eating, instead of focusing on external food roles to guide your eating choices, one of the goals is to cultivate trust in yourself when it comes to food and the innate instincts that you have," she says. Lopez, who co-hosts nutrition podcast "Food Heaven" with Jessica Jones, is promoting a new partnership with Take Root Organics. "Intuitive eating kind of helps quiet the noise, and you're able to tune into what [eating] habits work best for you," Lopez says.

Around 200km (120 miles) away in the northwestern city of Valladolid, Sanchez told a Socialist rally that the protesters in Madrid were defending a "uniform" and therefore "discriminatory" Spain. Its recent decision to replace the crime of sedition with a lesser crime was opposed on the right.

MADRID, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Volkswagen's (VOWG_p.DE) Spanish unit SEAT will go ahead with a mega project to make electric vehicles and batteries after overcoming initial reservations about government subsidies, it said on Wednesday. The SEAT-led project, in which 60 other Volkswagen-linked companies will also take part, foresees an investment of 10 billion euros ($10.06 billion) to electrify Spain's auto industry and turn the country into a European hub for e-vehicle and battery production. The government said last month VW-SEAT would receive 397.4 million euros of the 877 million total in the first phase of the electric vehicle financing programme using EU pandemic recovery funds. Although it was the carmaker that received the largest allocation, SEAT initially said the funding was not sufficient. Locals and tourists lined the route and watched as thousands of sheep walked through the city, the bells around their necks providing a noisy soundtrack. The annual event was revived in 1994 as part of Madrid's annual Fiesta de la Trashumancia, after the Spanish parliament recognised the traditional routes shepherds used to herd their livestock. Onlookers took pictures and videos on their phones, while some children held out tentative hands to stroke the sheep. "It was crazy that there were so many sheep, I've never seen anything like it.
