CNN —Iranian soccer club Sepahan has been punished by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for displaying a bust of a divisive general, who was assassinated by the United States in 2020, which caused the cancelation of a game against a Saudi team. The Quds Force is an elite unit that handles Iran’s overseas operations – and one designated as a terrorist organization by the US and Saudi Arabia. He was killed in 2020 by a US drone strike ordered by then US President Donald Trump. CNN —The US has intelligence that Iranian-backed militia groups are planning to ramp up attacks against US forces in the Middle East, as Iran seeks to capitalize on the backlash in the region to US support for Israel, according to multiple US officials. The militia groups have already launched multiple drone attacks on US forces in Iraq and Syria. But the US now has specific intelligence that those same groups could escalate even further as the war between Israel and Hamas continues. Officials said that at this point, Iran appears to be encouraging the groups rather than explicitly directing them. In the case of the recent drone attacks on bases housing US forces, “Iran is certainly more culpable than in the case of the Hamas attack in Israel,” said another person familiar with the intelligence.

A senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps commander warned Israel on Wednesday of "another shockwave" if it doesn't put an end to what the commander described as atrocities in Gaza. Ali Fadavi was quoted by Iranian news agency Fars as saying, "The resistance front's shocks against the Zionist regimes will continue until this 'cancerous tumor' is eradicated from the world map." Iran is a major backer of Hamas, which carried out attacks on Israel that left 1,400 people dead. The Wall Street Journal has reported that officers of the IRGC had worked with Hamas since August to devise the air, land and sea incursions—the most significant breach of Israel’s borders since the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

Dozens of Revolutionary Guards members including senior officers have been killed in Syria during the war. "Meqdad Meqdani was wounded during the Zionist attack on Friday dawn and was martyred," Mehr news said.
