Nikki Haley will announce Wednesday that she is exiting the Republican presidential race, according to sources familiar with her plans, clearing the path for former President Donald Trump. Still, in her campaign, Haley became the first Republican woman to win two primary contests: Vermont and the District of Columbia. Former 2024 candidates, including biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott and North Dakota Gov. At the time, Haley was seen as a rising GOP star and potential vice presidential pick in 2012 and 2016. Haley spent six years as governor of South Carolina before becoming Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations in 2017.

CNN —Nikki Haley suspended her campaign Wednesday morning, leaving former President Donald Trump as the presumptive GOP nominee. Haley’s exit, 51 days after the Iowa caucuses, makes 2024 one of the fastest-narrowing primary fields in recent history. In 2008, Senator John McCain secured the delegates for the Republican nomination on March 4, 61 days after the Iowa caucuses and about a month after that year’s Super Tuesday. No other competitive primary fields since 2004 narrowed to a final candidate within 100 days of the Iowa caucuses. In some instances, losing candidates have remained in the race even after the eventual nominee secured the required delegates.

Both President Biden and former President Trump are focused on the November general election. But they must first win over voters in a slew of primaries and caucuses on Super Tuesday. Ex-UN ambassador Nikki Haley has continued to campaign vigorously against Trump in the GOP primary. Headed into Super Tuesday, Trump has won nearly every GOP contest against his remaining major intraparty challenger, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley. Here's a look at the states (and the territory) where voters will head to the polls on Super Tuesday:

Nikki Haley evaded committing to endorse Donald Trump if he wins presidential nominee. The former US Ambassador to the United Nations said she "had serious concerns about Donald Trump." AdvertisementNikki Haley, vying for the Republican presidential candidate nomination, hinted that she might not endorse the GOP presidential nominee if it's former President Donald Trump. Haley said she was not obligated to endorse Trump and insisted that she has "serious concerns about Donald Trump. Haley also criticized the RNC, calling it "Trump's RNC."

Read previewFormer President Donald Trump won the Michigan GOP presidential primary on Tuesday, according to multiple outlets, continuing his march to the party's nomination ahead of Super Tuesday. Since January, Trump has emerged victorious in the Iowa caucuses, New Hampshire primary, Nevada caucuses, and South Carolina primary. But the GOP electorate remains enamored with the former president, judging by his track record in the earlier contests. Trump narrowly won Michigan in the 2016 general election, besting former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a state that until that year had backed every Democratic presidential nominee since 1992. The Republican made significant inroads with working-class voters in suburban Detroit and rural voters across the state.

Trump's departure from the White House hasn't stopped him from using the old administration's star power to fuel Capitol Ministries' growth. But regardless of what happens this coming November, Capitol Ministries is quickly becoming the face of American GOP-style evangelicalism around the world. Rick Perry spoke to Drollinger at Capitol Ministries' global summit in Washington, DC. Amid widespread discontent over President Joe Biden’s management of the border, the overall electorate is moving rightward on immigration too, polls show. For now, there’s no question that hardening GOP attitudes on immigration have been critical to Trump’s strong performance through the early primaries. Then, 56% of GOP primary voters said undocumented immigrants should be offered legal status; in last month’s primary, 55% said they should be deported. Immigration ranked as the most important issue for most GOP primary voters in South Carolina, and finished close behind the economy in both Iowa and New Hampshire. McLaughlin said Trump’s dominance among the GOP primary voters most concerned about immigration encapsulates a broader reason for his early success: widespread satisfaction among Republicans about his record in office.

South Carolina voters head to the polls on Saturday to cast ballots in a Republican presidential primary that could well determine the political fate of the state’s former governor, Nikki Haley, in her long-shot bid to derail former President Donald J. Trump’s march to the Republican nomination. Here is what to watch in the Palmetto State as votes are tallied Saturday night. Iowa was called for Mr. Trump before the caucuses had even ended. Polls in South Carolina will close at 7 p.m., and Ms. Haley is expected to speak in Charleston once the winner is declared. The Trump campaign will hold a “watch party” in the state capital of Columbia, where the former president is expected to speak.

The electorate for the South Carolina Republican primary looked much more like the one for January’s Iowa caucuses than for the New Hampshire primary, the early exit poll found. As in Iowa, well over 4 in 10 South Carolina primary voters describe themselves as affiliated with the MAGA movement. Exit polls are a valuable tool to help understand primary voters’ demographic profile and political views. The exit poll for South Carolina’s Republican presidential primary was conducted by Edison Research on behalf of the National Election Pool. Even among all Americans, Trump seems to be doing better. Instead of leading many voters to distrust Trump, the legal cases are leading voters to distrust the legal system. It’s important for the public to feel that the Trump prosecutions are legitimate. For many Americans, all of these distortions validate their sense that the Trump prosecutions are partisan. As they erode public trust, public officials solidify Trump’s support.

On primary nights and the general election, AP will give these outlets ready-to-publish graphics with national and local results, along with information gleaned from talking to voters from AP's VoteCast survey. AP plays a central role tabulating results across the country on election nights, using them to declare winners of contested races, along with seeking an in-depth view of what is on voters' minds. Some larger and national organizations offer consumers detailed election information, but usually don’t have the capacity to cover local races of interest to readers of INN publications, he said.
