US stock futures retreated on Tuesday as Wall Street awaited key earnings reports and a Fed update. AdvertisementStocks drifted lower in premarket trading on Tuesday as investors held their breath for marquee earnings reports and a critical update from the Federal Reserve. "If that's the case, we could see a further meltdown in Fed rate cut expectations. The next stop is no rate cut in 2024, which would be a cold shower for the bulls," she added. "If the Fed expectations turn undesirably hawkish, we could see the equity rally stall," Ozkardeskaya said.

CNN —On delivery day at the Manganese Metal Company’s industrial complex in Mbombela, South Africa, truckloads of manganese ore from the Kalahari Basin in the Northern Cape are ushered inside for processing. South Africa has the world’s largest manganese reserves; however, the International Manganese Institute estimates only 2% of the manganese ore produced within the country is locally processed. The Manganese Metal Company says it receives 80,000 tons of ore every year, with plans to build a $25 million commercial processing plant by the end of 2026. With an abundance of manganese reserves, South Africa has potential to become a leader in high purity manganese sulfate production, but d’Harambure says “issues with the electricity sector in South Africa” and “an increase in electricity prices” have made it difficult to produce manganese chemicals and alloys there. Green potentialThese obstacles are not stopping the Manganese Metal Company from trying to capitalize on the EV boom and expand its processing facilities.

The company was spun off from ThyssenKrupp, a German steel giant, in 2023. Answering that question assumes understanding why we use the S & P 500 in the first place. While the Dow heavily favors industrial businesses — steel, chemicals, autos, oil and gas — the S & P 500 offers a more diverse representation. Also, the S & P 500 index is weighted by market value, which makes sense to professional investors. While certainly not a proxy for the S & P 500, it provides more exposure to other industries and stocks. As shown below, the equal-weighted S & P 500 has slightly outperformed the S & P 500 over the past 20 years.

Ultra-processed foods are linked to health problems such as cancer, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. Ultra-processed foods tend to be made from ingredients you wouldn't find in a regular kitchen and are manufactured using industrial techniques. "I think we're getting too bogged down with the term ultra-processed food, we just need to make it a bit simpler," Patel told Business Insider. It's also very important to look at food labels, Patel said, so that you actually know what you're eating. Ultra-processed foods make up 73% of the US food supply.
