New college graduates are having a harder time finding work, and as a result, some of them could see their careers and earnings take a hit for years. Meaning that recent college graduates have been more likely to be unemployed than the broader population. This new normal has worked out OK for some Americans, but it's been particularly tough on new college graduates. While the tough job market could temporarily hurt some young graduates' earnings, there's reason to be optimistic that their finances could eventually recover. But if the job market continues to prove frustrating, some of them may begin to wonder.

"I don't think there's any place where we are seeing significant price reductions," Realtor.com data journalist Evan Wyloge told Business Insider. "A lot of this list has to do with the baked-in affordability for some of these places." Not a single West Coast city cracked the top ten — simply because there are no affordable pockets out West, Wyloge said. Realtor.com scoured the US to find the most affordable cities and ranked them by how many listings they had under $200,000 — excluding land, mobile homes, and cities with less than 100 listings.

In the eyes of Whole Foods co-founder John Mackey, Jeff Bezos is a "brilliant man" — all because of a few price cuts at the grocery chain. Whole Foods was struggling with declining sales when Bezos' Amazon bought the grocery chain for $13.7 billion in 2017. Shoppers were already looking elsewhere after larger, less expensive rivals like Walmart started stocking more organic foods to appeal to Whole Foods' target customers. That included producing a greater number of products from Whole Foods' in-house 365 brand, which Amazon also started selling online. "I hardly ever hear the 'whole paycheck' narrative any longer—that's due to Amazon," Mackey said.

It's a trend that emerged quickly after Taylor Swift began touring with her blockbuster The Eras Tour last spring. AdvertisementIn my case, it was because I happened to find myself in the same city as The Eras Tour and had a free evening. Amanda, 40, who had traveled from the US with her daughter Maddie, 20, were due to attend the second UK concert the following day. Amanda and her daughter Maddie were among Swifties who showed up to "Taylor-gate" as the UK leg of The Eras Tour kicked off on June 7. Welcome to the age of geriatric millionaires

While it makes sense that time is often a crucial ingredient to accruing savings and assets, the average age of millionaires in the US has been rising faster than the average age of the overall population over the last three decades. How millionaires are changingSince 1992, the average age of the country's millionaires has been going up. That means that younger millionaires aren't joining their ranks fast enough to keep the average age steady. Millionaires are overrepresented beginning around age 50, but track pretty cleanly with the cohort in their 40's. What does it mean to have so many older millionaires?

Prices of cocoa have more than tripled over the last year, creating a big headache for candy makers and other food companies that use the ingredient to make chocolate. The price surge has since eased off slightly, but the crop is still commanding well above what food companies are used to paying. This season's cocoa crop is expected to experience the largest deficit in at least six decades, according to a Rabobank report from May. Why tariffs on Chinese EVs may not work
  + stars: | 2024-06-15 | by ( Robert Ferris | In | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +2 min
The Chinese auto sector is increasingly making global automakers and politicians hot under the collar. In the early 1980s, the Chinese auto industry barely existed. President Joe Biden last month introduced stiff tariffs on Chinese EVs, effectively doubling the list price, which can otherwise be as cheap as $11,500. The administration says Chinese firms have benefited from unfair government support, and Chinese EV imports threaten the Biden administration's big investments in EVs. But a few auto industry insiders are skeptical that tariffs will be able to hold off Chinese imports for long.
