But I didn't expect my ambivalence toward dogs to be a dealbreaker in my adult dating life. I confessed I wasn't the biggest dog person, and he ghosted me. Don't get me wrong: I don't hate dogs. But, as glamorous as it sounds, I don't share the innate obsession with dogs many people seem to have. This is my biggest secret: If I love you, I will begrudgingly love your dog, too.

In a 2023 InterNations survey of over 12,000 expats, Germany was voted one of the countries expats hate to live in the most. AdvertisementWhen asked where I'm from, saying I'm American" doesn't suffice. Sadly, I'm also still stuck in my native English head, which doesn't delineate between a formal and informal "you," either. At stake is one of the top two spots in the Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLK) , whose June rebalance is based on market cap values as of Friday's close. The market caps of Microsoft, Apple and Nvidia were all within $100 billion of each other as of Thursday's close, according to a FactSet calculation. This type of big shift in an index fund is unusual, but not unprecedented. The fund tracks an index from S & P Dow Jones Indices that uses weighting caps to keep the index in bounds. Depending on how many shares of Nvidia are required, it might cause a short-term spike in the name," Bajaj said.

CNN —Host Germany kicked off Euro 2024 in spectacular fashion on Friday, hammering 10-man Scotland 5-1 in Munich to record the biggest opening match victory in European Championship history. Antonio Rüdiger’s own goal in the 87th minute was nothing more than a consolation but gave the Scotland fans a moment to remember on a difficult night. Germany didn’t allow Scotland fans much time to enjoy their moment as Can, who was a late callup following youngster Aleksandar Pavlović’s injury, found the bottom corner from the edge of the area. She was sturdy, close to my height, and in the crux of her arms was my newborn daughter, Dylan. The nurse fixed her gaze on me without so much as a glance at my wife Reggie, the doctor or my daughter, who admittedly was not a viable suspect. We stood there for a tense moment — Reggie and the doctor looking confused, the nurse looking murderous and me looking innocent to the point of looking guilty, before the nurse unswaddled the blanket covering Dylan’s legs. This picture taken in Paris on March 3, 2024 shows the silhouette of the Eiffel Tower and the city skyline against a cloudy weather. The Stoxx 600 index is nonetheless on course for one of its worst weeks of the year so far. Stateside, two sets of inflation data — the consumer price index and the producer price index — both came in softer than expected, boosting U.S. stocks. Between those readings, the Federal Reserve held interest rates steady and revised its outlook for interest rate cuts to just one in 2024. The start of the week was dominated by market reaction to elections to the European Union's parliament, in which far-right parties made gains, as had been forecast.

Oil prices are up more than 4.5% for the week, the strongest gains since early April, when futures rose on boiling geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Crude oil futures rose for a fifth day Friday, on pace for the best week in more than two months as analysts see a tighter market heading into the third quarter. Deutsche sees the oil supply deficit expanding to nearly 1 million barrels per day in the third quarter, which should support Brent prices rising to the mid-to-upper $80s per barrel range. "It would only take a minor overshoot to bring Brent to around USD 90/bbl at some point during the second half," Hsueh told clients. Citigroup also sees a tighter market in the third quarter, though the market will likely enter a surplus in 2025 on solid production growth and slowing demand, according to the bank.

According to data from CryptoQuant, the flow of bitcoin leaving miners wallets for exchanges – which indicates a selling event – reached a two-month high last weekend. Additionally, miner selling through over-the-counter desks saw its biggest daily volume since late March. CryptoQuant shows the hourly transfer of bitcoin from miners to exchanges rose to more than 3,000 bitcoins on June 9. "Daily bitcoin miner revenues stand today at about $35 million, down 55% from their 2024 peak reached in March." That's mostly as a result of "depressed" transaction fees, however, rather than the slashing of miners' block reward at the halving.

The head of OPEC said Thursday the world will need to invest in fossil fuels for decades to come in order to prevent an energy shortage, dismissing predictions that oil demand will peak in the near future. The OPEC chief called for "continued oil industry investment, today, tomorrow, and many decades into the future given the products derived from crude oil are essential for our daily lives." Oil supply capacity will rise to 114 million per day by 2030, 8 million barrels more than global demand, according to the IEA. Deutsche Bank and Citi, however, see OPEC coming under pressure in the coming years. Citi analysts see a substantial oil surplus in 2025 as production keeps growing in North America, Brazil and Guyana, while demand slows due to energy efficiency improvements and electric vehicle adoption.

Microsoft is likely to be unhappy when it discovers that its arch rival Amazon is leaning hard on GitHub for AI training data. "Our LLMs are trained on data from a variety of sources, including licensed and proprietary data, open-source datasets, and publicly available data where appropriate. It also said Amazon employees should create a "classic personal token," not a "fine-grained personal token," when signing up. Tech companies, hungry for even more training data, are also granting themselves new permissions to use a lot more of consumers' information. Though Amazon's legal team has approved the GitHub data scraping workaround, the move could put Amazon in a tricky position.
