Such forecasts have prompted a sell-off in a wide range of companies from makers of bariatric surgery devices to companies whose products address the health issues created by excess weight, from diabetes to sleep apnea. "The market is in a shoot-first, ask-questions-later mood when it comes to weight-loss drugs," said Nicholas Anderson, manager of the Thornburg International Growth Fund, which holds shares of Novo Nordisk. By contrast, the iShares U.S. Medical Devices exchange-traded fund has lost more than 22% in the last three months. Injectable weight-loss drugs, known as GLP-1 receptor agonists, are considered highly effective but are also expensive, costing more than $1,300 per month. "Overall, we'll see an increased interest in bariatric surgery, but that will get delayed in the short term."

U.S. chipmaker Nvidia has been getting a lot of love from market watchers this year – and growth investor Nick Griffin is no exception. NVDA YTD mountain Year-to-date share price of Nvidia Griffin does not expect this phenomenon to have a significant impact on the company in the long-term. So, short-term, I understand the negativity – but long-term, it's not going to change the fact that people want to buy their chips," Griffin said. Going forward he foresees an increase in the demand for GPUs - which would possibly chip away Nvidia's market share to around 60%. While this may mean a loss of market share to its fellow chipmakers, the growth investor believes that Nvidia is in "a very unique position."

Despite a recent hiccup, growth stocks are in style as concerns about the US economy persist. Growth stocks may generate earnings quickly, but that doesn't mean stock-pickers should rush to sell them — even after letdowns like a disappointing quarter. Every stock in the 52-year-old growth fund has tailwinds like sustainable earnings growth and defendable competitive advantages, Humphrey said. A German startup hoping to help put an end to plastic pollution has just raised 36.6 million euro (around $38.9 million) in a mixture of equity and debt. Hamburg-based Traceless, founded in 2020, has developed a plant-based biomaterial using agricultural waste to replace plastics. The startup material uses the existing natural polymers that are in its raw material, which requires up to 80% less energy to process compared to conventional plastics, Lamp said. Traceless produces its material as small pellets to provide to product manufacturers, which then mould it to their needs. The startup hopes to have replaced 1 million tonnes of plastic by 2030.

In March 2022, Nazım Salur invited thousands of Getir employees to a Zoom meeting to celebrate its newfound "decacorn" status. However, as soaring inflation and rising interest rates began to hobble the tech sector, investors became far less forgiving of businesses that had oriented themselves more toward growth than sustainability. In December 2021, The Guardian reported that Getir had offered customers a deal where they could get £15 off if they spent £16. About 21 rapid-delivery startups were operating across Europe in 2021, with Getir joined by the German outfits Gorillas and Flink, as well as the British startup Zapp. Getir tentatively emerged as the winner in the rapid-delivery sector when it bought its main competitor, Gorillas , in a heavily discounted deal for $1.2 billion in December.

Morgan Stanley strategist Chelsea Tabe said in a note to clients last week that Europe has become the "land of equity yield." "Europe has tended to offer a higher dividend yield than global peers, but a low or negative net buyback yield meant the region's total yield often lagged," Tabe said. "In 2022 Europe offered investors the highest total yield of any major region, and our analysts' projections suggest this is likely to be repeated in 2023. The biggest of the group is the WisdomTree Europe Hedged Equity Fund (HEDJ) , according to VettaFi, with more than $1 billion in assets. The mechanism gives investors in CCS certainty about their future revenue by setting a minimum price for their carbon credits. Oil companies in the country's highest-emitting sector are counting on CCS to help dramatically cut emissions while continuing to pump oil and gas.
