A chart from a Morgan Stanley research report Morgan StanleyPeople mostly use chatbot services to learn about a new topic. When online shopping, 56% of respondents said they start by using Google Search, YouTube, or Bard. Online travel research was a little more split between Google and travel services like Expedia, and Bookings.com.

The generative AI industry is set to grow from $40 billion in 2022 to a $1.3 trillion market in 2032. The launch of OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT in November fueled the hype around AI tools. Hardware, however, will make up the bulk of the $1.3 trillion of revenue, accounting for $641 billion by 2032, per Bloomberg's estimates. Hardware revenue will come from AI servers, AI storage, computer vision AI products, as well as conversational AI tools, which will be worth $108 billion. Digital ads pertaining to AI will make revenues of $192 billion, while AI assistant software will be worth $89 billion, per the report.

Samsung has introduced a new policy banning employees from using generative AI tools like Open AI's ChatGPT and Google Bard in the workplace, Bloomberg reported Tuesday. Staff are now banned from using generative AI tools on company-owned devices including computers, tablets, phones, and internal networks, per Bloomberg. Tech giant Amazon similarly warned staff against using ChatGPT because of instances of the chatbot's responses resembling internal Amazon data, Insider's Eugene Kim reported in January. OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, introduced new measures in April to address concerns about managing data on the chatbot.

April 21 (Reuters) - Alphabet Inc's (GOOGL.O) Google said on Friday it will update Bard, its generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, to help people write code to develop software, as the tech giant plays catch-up in a fast-moving race on AI technology. Last month, the company started the public release of Bard to gain ground on Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O). Google describes Bard as an experiment allowing collaboration with generative AI, technology that relies on past data to create rather than identify content. Bard will be able to code in 20 programming languages including Java, C++ and Python, and can also help debug and explain code to users, Google said on Friday. The company said Bard can also optimize code to make it faster or more efficient with simple prompts such as "Could you make that code faster?".
