Lieberman, a former U.S. senator and unsuccessful vice presidential candidate, said No Labels hopes to offer a legitimate "third choice" candidate. "We're not in this to be spoilers," Lieberman told ABC's "This Week" program. Former Democratic Senator Doug Jones said a third-party No Labels candidate could not secure the 270 Electoral College votes needed to win. But he said a No Labels candidate could help Trump regain the White House he lost to Biden in 2020. Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie rejected the group's approach outright on Sunday.

Roy McGrath had been on the run since last month, federal officials said. The ex-chief of staff for Maryland’s former governor Larry Hogan was fatally shot in Tennessee on Monday night during a confrontation with an FBI agent, ending a 21-day manhunt, authorities said. Roy McGrath , 53 years old, had been on the run since last month when he didn’t show up to his federal trial over his alleged theft of more than $275,000 from Maryland’s public environmental service, according to federal prosecutors and the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Baltimore.
April 3 (Reuters) - A fugitive and former top aide to former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan was killed in Tennessee after a confrontation with the FBI, the Washington Post reported, citing the former aide's lawyer. The Baltimore Sun said he was shot but it was uncertain whether it was self-inflicted or by the FBI. The FBI said in a statement it was reviewing an agent-involved shooting, the Post reported. The FBI takes all shooting incidents involving our agents or task force members seriously," the FBI statement said. Hogan said in a statement he and his wife, Yumi Hogan, were saddened by the "tragic situation," the Baltimore Sun reported.
Hogan's former chief of staff, Roy McGrath, failed to show up for his federal fraud trial. McGrath, a Florida resident, faces eight federal counts, including wire fraud, theft in programs receiving federal funds, and falsification of records. The charges against McGrath stem from his time serving as the executive director of the Maryland Environmental Service. He led the quasi-government agency before he was brought on as Hogan's chief of staff in June 2020. McGrath resigned as chief of staff to Hogan in August 2020.

Hogan, who served eight years as Maryland governor ending in January, is considered a moderate in a party that has moved rightward. Trump won his party's 2016 nomination after facing off against 16 other Republican candidates. "The stakes are too high for me to risk being part of another multicar pileup that could potentially help Mr. Trump recapture the nomination." He has one major opponent announced for the Republican nomination - former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley - though activist investor Vivek Ramaswamy also has entered the race. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are among those considering challenging Trump for the nomination.
Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis are top of mind at the 2023 Conservative Political Action Conference. CPAC participants suspect 2024 will come down to those two, while others vie for the VP slot. 'An interesting race'Rory McSchane, a GOP political strategist from Austin, Texas is in the more the merrier camp. "My sincere hope is that she would be the vice president," Yadeta said of having Haley round out the 2024 ticket. Should Scott wind up taking the plunge, Bencosme said she could see herself supporting him in the GOP primary — and possibly beyond.
But as he faces a decision over whether to run for president in 2024, DeSantis shares far more similarities with two other ex-GOP frontrunners: Former Govs. Like DeSantis, Walker and Christie once seemed like inevitable frontrunners for the White House. Walker seized the moment, while Christie let his moment pass. "That's a huge difference in my opinion in terms of that moment," DuHaime said. "There was a moment for Christie in 2012 and there is a moment for Ron DeSantis in 2024.
Republicans in Florida want to change the law so DeSantis can run for president and keep his job. The comments came as the new GOP legislature and leaders were sworn in Tuesday. Ron DeSantis could run for president without resigning from his current job. Senate President Kathleen Passidomo echoed Renner's comments, saying it would be an "honor" to have someone from Florida running for president. Under current Florida law, if DeSantis were to run for president then he would have to resign his post as governor — even if he eventually lost the presidency.
If Trump landed in prison, nothing in the Constitution would block him from another White House run, according to nine legal experts interviewed by Insider. He served eight years in federal prison after being convicted on public-corruption charges. In the Oval Office, Trump conducted business at the ornate Resolute Desk. If he wound up in federal prison, he'd likely have more sway over his fate. Hochul would all but certainly reject calls to cut Trump legal slack in any fashion, pardons included.
By historical standards, Gen X should be in charge of the US by now. Think of them as the godparents of the "Xennials" — those born in the late 1970s or early 1980s who aren't fully Gen X or millennial. No matter whether you deny the 61-year-old Obama is a boomer, Gen X is starting to get up there in age. Michael Ciaglo-Pool/Getty ImagesWhat's the US missing without a Gen X president? "It's like seeing a ghost that doesn't appear," she said of any expectation the presidency would just suddenly open up for Gen X.
