Nov 30 (Reuters) - Industrial conglomerate General Electric Co (GE.N) and defense contractor L3Harris Technologies Inc (LHX.N) are among those competing to acquire rocket maker Aerojet Rocketdyne Holdings Inc (AJRD.N), according to people familiar with the matter. Aircraft producer Textron Inc (TXT.N) and private equity firm Veritas Capital are also vying to acquire El Segundo, California-based Aerojet, which has a market value of about $4 billion, the sources said. Aerojet has been running a process to sell itself after its $4.4 billion sale to Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N) was thwarted by antitrust regulators in February, Reuters has previously reported. Spokespeople for Aerojet, General Electric, Textron and Veritas Capital did not respond to requests for comment. Its customers include the Pentagon, Boeing (BA.N), Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Technologies Corp (RTX.N).

Nov 8 (Reuters) - Chevron (CVX.N) said fire crews were responding to an isolated fire inside its 269,000-barrel-per-day El Segundo refinery in California on Tuesday, with no injuries due to the incident. The time of dispatch was 6:13 pm, with a response at the two-alarm level from El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach and La County Fire, El Segundo fire chief Deena Lee said, adding it was unclear whether the material involved is jet fuel or diesel. Aerojet develops and manufactures liquid and solid rocket propulsion and hypersonic engines for space, defense, civil and commercial applications. Activist hedge fund Elliott Investment Management disclosed it had accumulated a 3.7% stake in Aerojet in August. The Securities and Exchange Commission said Mattel Inc. agreed to pay $3.5 million to settle claims over misstatements the toy maker made in its 2017 financial statements. Mr. Abrahams, the lead auditor on the PwC account at the time of the alleged misstatements, failed to verify the uncorrected $109 million error was documented even though he knew about it, the SEC said. Mr. Abrahams worked at PwC from 2004 until 2019, when he resigned. Mattel didn’t admit to or deny the SEC’s claims when it agreed to pay the fine. Mr. Abrahams and Mr. Euteneuer didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

HARTFORD, Conn. — Electronic cigarette maker Juul Labs will pay nearly $440 million to settle a two-year investigation by 33 states into the marketing of its high-nicotine vaping products, which have long been blamed for sparking a national surge in teen vaping. Additionally, Juul faces hundreds of personal suits brought on behalf of teenagers and others who say they became addicted to the company’s vaping products. Teen use of e-cigarettes skyrocketed after Juul’s launch in 2015, leading the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to declare an “epidemic” of underage vaping among teenagers. The biggest blow came earlier this summer when the FDA moved to ban all Juul e-cigarettes from the market. The deal also includes restrictions on where Juul products may be placed in stores, age verification on all sales and limits to online and retail sales.
