Starting Tuesday, Bluesky is finally out of "beta" and will be open to anyone — no codes needed. Like Mastodon and Threads, Bluesky is an experiment in a new, "decentralized" way of running a social app, where users can create their own communities and moderation rules. AdvertisementJack Dorsey was involved in creating Bluesky while he was still at Twitter and now sits on its board. Business Insider spoke with Jay Graber, the CEO of Bluesky, about the app — which she said now has 3 million users. If you've never modified anything else, that's like a normal social app experience.

“As it stands, the policy makes little sense,” Oversight Board co-chair Michael McConnell said of Meta’s policy in a statement on Monday. Spokesperson Corey Chambliss said while audio deepfakes aren't mentioned in the company's manipulated media policy, they are eligible to be fact-checked and will be labeled or down-ranked if fact-checkers rate them as false or altered. Meta created its oversight board in 2020 to serve as a referee for content on its platforms. The board also noted that some forms of manipulated media are made for humor, parody or satire and should be protected. Meta said on its website that it welcomes the Oversight Board’s ruling on the Biden post and will update the post after reviewing the board’s recommendations.

Wearable technology has been used in multiple industries, such as healthcare and fitness. Fewer lags and faster download speeds make the real-time experience required for wearable technology possible. The primary purpose of the wearables, she said, is to help those who are deaf or hard of hearing experience music inclusively. The Vibrotextile wearable technology is a haptic vest with wrist and ankle bands. "People want to be connected, and I think that's the most important aspect of technology," Rosella said.

New York CNN —Blue chip stocks have long been synonymous with stability and reliability. Named for the most valuable poker chips, these stocks supposedly represent the crème de la crème of the corporate world, companies like Disney, General Motors and Verizon. Known for their strong financial foundations, longevity, and a healthy flow of dividends, blue chip stocks have long been the go-to for investors seeking steady returns. Their values have surged so high that they’ve been buoying the broader market even as many blue chips have struggled. The problem is that despite being included in blue chip ETF indexes, companies like Nvidia and Tesla aren’t truly blue chip stocks, George Pearkes, an analyst at Bespoke, told CNN.

Until now, the social platforms have largely had the same response: We’ll help teens and families make smart decisions themselves. But now, with growing claims that social media can hurt young users, including worries that it risks driving them to depression or even suicide, online safety advocates say that response falls far short. This month Meta announced a proposed blueprint for federal legislation calling for app stores, not social media companies, to verify users’ ages and enforce an age minimum. Safety action beyond CongressAs efforts to rein in tech platforms have ground to a standstill on Capitol Hill, much of the momentum for regulating social media has picked up outside the halls of Congress. Elsewhere, state-backed and consumer lawsuits against the companies are ramping up pressure to regulate tech platforms as the litigation reveals more about their inner workings.

.SPX YTD mountain S & P 500, YTD As for the "too far, too fast" argument, it's worth recalling that all the S & P 500 has done is nearly complete an almost-symmetrical two-year round trip. Ned Davis Research U.S. strategist Ed Clissold looked back at prior times the S & P 500 has gone more than a year without making a record high. This is always a tricky proposition – cash that leaves money markets to buy stocks leaves the seller of the stocks with cash. While OpenAI later transitioned to a for-profit model, its controlling shareholder remains the nonprofit OpenAI Inc. and its board of directors. This unique structure made it possible for four OpenAI board members — the company's chief scientist, two outside tech entrepreneurs and an academic — to oust CEO Sam Altman on Friday. When it was founded, OpenAI’s original board co-chairs were Altman and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Musk recently launched his own AI startup, xAI, to compete with OpenAI, Microsoft and Google, among others. There are growing rumblings within the ad industry that Google won't be able to get rid of third-party tracking cookies until 2025 at the earliest. It has since delayed that plan twice to give the ad industry more time to prepare, but has repeatedly said it's on track for a fourth-quarter, 2024 cookie expiry date. "It's a mess," said one ad industry executive speaking on condition of anonymity in order to talk freely about the process. The CMA's latest Privacy Sandbox update listed various concerns from various constituents about the proposals. Despite some skepticism that Google can hit its 2024 deadline, many in the ad industry just want to move past third-party cookies after almost four years in limbo.

Google contends that it dominates the market because its search engine is better than the competition's. The Justice Department sought to show that Google feared Apple might establish its own search engine and worried about losing talent to Apple. In a 2019 email shown in court, Pichai asked to be informed directly whenever a member of Google’s search engine team defected to Apple. The Mountain View, California-based company could be stopped from paying Apple and other companies to make Google the default search engine. “You get up in the morning, you brush your teeth and you search on Google,” Nadella said.

The stock market could see further damage if one key index can't hold an important technical level, according to Bank of America investment strategist Michael Hartnett. Washington, DC CNN —The global economy is facing tremendous uncertainty from the war between Hamas and Israel in the Middle East, on top of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. They say Israel’s declaration of war against Hamas could be yet another catalyst for deglobalization, though the extent of that is still up in the air. If deglobalization does get exacerbated, what would that mean for inflation and monetary policy, globally? With deglobalization, you get a global economic environment that’s less competitive, and when there’s less competition, that is ultimately inflationary, causing prices to rise. Over the Covid era, China shut down production, disrupting the global supply chain, so deglobalization would bring some production back within US borders.
