As the market gets back into gear after the Thanksgiving holiday and a shortened Black Friday session, though, futures are subdued.
Contracts linked to the S&P 500, Nasdaq-100 and the Dow industrials slipped about 0.1%.
Most actively traded Brent futures declined about 1.6% to trade at close to $79 a barrel.
That put Brent on pace for a fourth losing session, amid continued wariness about the coming OPEC cartel meeting.
Asian stocks slipped, with indexes in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo closing down.
