A key lure of the unprecedented three-continent project is being able to open in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo, where the Centenario Stadium hosted the inaugural 1930 World Cup final. “The centennial World Cup could not be far from South America, where everything began," said Alejandro Dominguez, the president of South American soccer body CONMEBOL. Saudi Arabia has targeted the 2034 edition and Australia also is interested after successfully co-hosting the Women’s World Cup this year with New Zealand. The South American co-host bid has been promoted since the 2018 World Cup in Russia and had included Chile, which was not mentioned Wednesday. CNN —The European Court of Human Rights will hear an “unprecedented” lawsuit on Wednesday, brought by six young people against 32 European countries accusing them of failing to tackle the human-caused climate crisis. It is the first climate case to be filed with the European Court of Human Rights and is the largest of a total of three climate lawsuits the court is hearing. If it passes procedural hurdles, the court could rule that states do not have human rights obligations when it comes to climate change. “That could be very damaging to other similar cases,” said Michael B. Gerrard, director of the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia Law School. Climate litigation is an important tool, said Catherine Higham, coordinator of the Climate Change Laws of the World project at the London School of Economics.

MANCHESTER, England, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Manchester City maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season with a 2-0 home win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, making it six wins out of six despite losing midfielder Rodri to a red card early in the second half. In all, referee Anthony Taylor doled out 11 yellow cards along with Rodri's red, with seven of the yellows coming in a bad-tempered second half as Forest tried to leverage their extra man, but to no avail. I think the first half was brilliant apart from the last 10 (minutes), I think they found us out a little," Foden said. "The second half was not what we expected because Rodri got a red card quite early... it wasn't ideal, but we showed a different side to us today to dig in, and I'm proud of the team." The CEO of nuclear-powered utility Constellation Energy , Joe Dominguez, emphasized the reliability of nuclear power in an interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer. Constellation says it's the largest producer of carbon-free energy that does not use fossil fuels, and comes from sources like wind, solar and nuclear. Dominguez added that nuclear power is reliable regardless of the weather, so it can fill in gaps that occur with solar and wind power generation. Dominguez also said Constellation aims to go beyond RECs, or annual renewable energy certificates, which he said don't always mean a company is meeting its carbon-free goals. He touted his company's energy-matching program, which aims to ensure that companies are receiving renewable energy sources on a moment-to-moment basis.

He didn’t care that it was a no-hitter. He just wanted the Yankees to win. After two innings, I texted a Brewers fan to say I was worried the Yankees would be no-hit. But Mahaffy's research found that it is not necessarily because companies have leaned away from socially conscious strategies. Instead, she pointed a growing use of the term "sustainability," as well as other words like "climate" or "decarbonization" that fall under the ESG umbrella. It comes at a time when ESG has become increasingly fraught in the political sphere. Mahaffry noted that areas like the U.S. where ESG has received the most scrutiny have seen the biggest drops in use of the term on earnings calls. On WestRock's earnings call earlier this month, Sewell told listeners: "This is just one example of many of how WestRock's unique capabilities position us for growth."
