CNN —As cases of salmonella infections linked to recalled charcuterie meats double, the US Centers of Disease Control and Prevention expanded its warning in a new food safety alert on Thursday. That’s almost double the cases from the last update on January 5th where 24 illnesses and five hospitalizations had been reported in 14 states. The CDC cautions that the true number of illnesses is most likely higher and could also be in present in other states. The warning is now also being expanded beyond one specific lot number of Busseto brand Charcuterie Sampler. CNN —It’s the ‘leaning tower’ that has stood tipsily – but steadily – for nearly 1,000 years. But now, the days of the Garisenda tower in Bologna, Italy, could be numbered. Following investigations last month, the city is instigating a civil protection plan for the “sudden and unexpected collapse of the tower,” which has dominated the Bologna skyline since the 12th century. The Garisenda leans at an angle of four degrees – only a little more upright than the Leaning Tower of Pisa’s five degrees. “The overall situation has unfortunately worsened considerably, with worrying implications for the overall stability of the tower,” reads the report.

By the end of the chore, she is exhausted and has to sit or lie down, sometimes falling asleep wherever she happens to be. “Anything beyond that is truly excruciating,” Ms. Wynn, 42, said. Ever since, her bloodwork has indicated that she is experiencing extreme inflammation, a hallmark of autoimmune disease. Infection with the coronavirus is known to leave behind a long legacy of health problems, many of which are characterized as long Covid. But mounting evidence suggests that independent of that syndrome, the coronavirus also befuddles the immune system into targeting the body, causing autoimmune disorders in some people.

BERLIN, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Greece's record champions Olympiakos should accept the sanctions, including a docked point, for crowd trouble in their abandoned Athens derby against Panathinaikos for the good of the sport, Panathinaikos president Giannis Alafouzos said. The Super League's disciplinary body awarded the game to Panathinaikos 3-0 and docked hosts Olympiakos a point, a decision the Piraeus club has since appealed, claiming no one was injured. The player would also not feature in Saturday's league match against Lamia either. In 2019, a Panathinaikos home match against Olympiakos was abandoned after their fans attacked players on the visiting team's bench and clashed with police. Panathinaikos are top of the league, a point ahead of rivals Olympiakos after nine league matches.

And now the medieval Garisenda “leaning” tower in Bologna is sparking very modern publicity, with concern that it might be subsiding. But it leans at an angle of four degrees – only a little more upright than the Leaning Tower of Pisa, set at a tipsy five-degree angle. Shortened in later years, it sits in the city center beside the Asinelli – a tower twice the height, which tourists can climb. Lepore said that the tower “has been leaning for several centuries, and it has been the subject of various interventions over decades.”The Garisenda, seen next to the higher Asinelli tower, leans at a four-degree angle. Lepore represents the center-left Democratic Party, and his council opposition has cast him as failing to protect the tower.

Mr. Avant, born in a segregated hospital in North Carolina and educated only through the ninth grade, moved easily in the high-powered world of entertainment, helping to establish the idea that Black culture and consumers were forces to be reckoned with. He started out managing a nightclub in Newark in the late 1950s and moved on to representing some of the artists he met there. Joe Glaser, a high-powered agent who handled Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and many other top acts, took Mr. Avant under his wing; perhaps, the documentary suggested, Mr. Glaser, who was white, thought it would be advantageous to have a Black man representing some of his Black clients. In any case, Mr. Avant was soon handling artists including the jazz organist Jimmy Smith and traveling in rarefied circles. Though he knew nothing about the movie business, Mr. Avant worked his brand of magic on the West Coast: Mr. Schifrin has to date been nominated for six Oscars.

Britain's Reilly soars to BMX freestyle world title

The 22-year-old Reilly, whose trailblazing two-wheeled stunts have earned him a huge online following, pulled every trick out of the bag to nail his second run to score 95.80. With several of the sport's biggest names still to complete their final two 60-second runs, Gateshead's Reilly then had an anxious wait to see whether or not the world title was his. A rain shower prolonged the agony as organisers dried the track, with just Australia's Olympic champion Logan Martin and 2022 world champion Rimu Nakamura still to ride their second attempts around the circuit. The 29-year-old Martin was already assured of a bronze and produced a sensational second ride but was unable to dislodge Reilly from the top of the leaderboard, settling for silver. And yet for decades, the Louis Armstrong House Museum has been a well-kept secret on a quiet street in Corona. The longtime residence of the famed jazz trumpeter, singer and bandleader, it is a midcentury interior design treasure hidden behind a modest brick exterior. The museum’s new extension, the 14,000 square foot Louis Armstrong Center, blends in a little less. It looks, in fact, a bit like a 1960s spaceship landed in the middle of a residential block. “The house is relatively small,” said Regina Bain, executive director of the House Museum and Center, speaking of the two-story dwelling where Armstrong lived with his wife, Lucille, from 1943 until his death in 1971.

Blithely I bypass the lap pool; not once in my adult life have I craved more repetitive activity. Instead I set up shop on the side of the warm-water pool — foam weights, kickboard, noodle — and, slipping into the 92-degree water, I sense a holy transition. The others arrive by way of a long ramp, discarding canes or walkers, hoisting themselves from wheelchairs, fingers trailing in deepening water. The Santa Fe Community College warm-water pool is not a place to be seen. Pathetically, valiantly, I worked my way up to 15 minutes of recumbent exercise, to 30 minutes, to walking on a treadmill.
