IHOP on Wednesday unveiled a revamped menu that includes more than a dozen new items and the return of its popular Cinn-A-Stack pancakes. The new menu, which will be available nationwide on April 3, spans breakfast, lunch and dinner and revives several items that disappeared during the pandemic, like the Cinn-A-Stack pancakes and Eggs Benedict. IHOP was fielding almost a dozen requests every week from customers asking for Cinna-A-Stack pancakes back on the menu, according to Donahue. Donahue said bringing back old favorites, like the Eggs Benedict, meant reminding workers how to poach eggs, for example. IHOP rival Denny's recently revealed its own updated menu, made possible by recent kitchen renovations.

Uber Eats has new rules for delivery-only brands on its app, the Wall Street Journal reported. Those restaurants represent about 13% of all virtual brands on Uber Eats, according to the Journal. Uber Eats offers food from roughly 40,000 virtual brands, up from 10,000 in 2021, according to the Journal. Some restaurants, such as Denny's, use virtual brands to offer items that aren't on the menu at their physical restaurants. Uber Eat's new requirements are part of a broader set of rules for virtual brands that the company plans to roll out this week, Uber told Insider.

A 72-year-old woman was killed and two others were injured when a Denny’s restaurant sign in Kentucky fell from its post and crashed onto an occupied car below. Police responded to a Denny's on the 2000 block of North Mulberry Street in Elizabethtown around 1:30 p.m. Thursday on a report of the fallen sign. Photos show the sign on top of a blue vehicle, crushing in parts of the roof. An investigation into what caused the sign to fall is underway, but police said fierce winds likely contributed to the incident. Peak wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph were observed across parts of Kentucky on Thursday, the National Weather Service office in Louisville said.

Every state except Alaska saw a decrease in restaurants' average weekly operating hours. Eateries have trimmed their weekly operating hours by 7.5%, or 6.4 hours, compared with pre-pandemic schedules, according to a new report from Datassential . Denny's weekly hours have fallen by nearly a third, while Texas Roadhouse , IHOP and Subway have all seen their averages shrink by double digits. Women and people of color who work for tips always earn significantly "less than white, male tipped workers," Jayaraman said, "because of the biases we all carry as customers. Employer justifications for the subminimum wage tend to fall apart under the slightest examination. Restaurant workers in these seven states have for years taken home more than the federal tipped minimum wage per hour with no negative effects on the restaurant industry. The pandemic has worsened conditions for restaurant workers, and many of them have decided that the subminimum wage isn't worth the hassle.
