New York CNN —Meta’s Oversight Board is set to evaluate the company’s handling of deepfake pornography amid growing concerns that artificial intelligence is fueling a rise in the creation of fake, explicit imagery as a form of harassment. “Deepfake pornography is a growing cause of gender-based harassment online and is increasingly used to target, silence and intimidate women – both on and offline,” Meta Oversight Board Co-Chair Helle Thorning-Schmidt said in a statement. CNN —Human trafficking-fueled fraud is exploding in Southeast Asia with organized crime rings raking in close to $3 trillion in illicit revenue annually, the head of Interpol has said in comments that reveal the huge profits being earned by cartels. One international organized crime group makes $50 billion a year, according to Interpol secretary-general Jurgen Stock, adding that $2 trillion to $3 trillion of illicit money flows through the global financial system annually. While drug trafficking contributes around 40% to 70% of organized crime income, criminal groups are also using those smuggling networks to illegally move humans, arms and stolen products among other things, Stock said. The student started her self-empowerment channel in November and has so far published eight videos and seven YouTube Shorts. The Xiaohongshu deepfakes of other YouTubers do the same. In a matter of about 10 minutes, BI found deepfake videos of at least five caucasian women on Xiaohongshu. But at least one Chinese deepfake version of Blakely has a different agenda to share on Xiaohongshu.
