Read previewIf you have a tendency to say "everything's fine" at work and brush things under the rug, you might be "glossing." Glossing is a form of toxic positivity — in which people suppress and deny their negative emotions — and it could be holding you back. AdvertisementIt's not rocket scienceRinne said some signs of a glossing workforce are people not talking about tough issues at all or talking only behind their manager's back. If that's happening, leaders need to do some self-reflection, Rinne said, and ask themselves if they've been glossing. "You get more when people feel safe and feel engaged than if they're punching that clock and glossing for hours," Rinne said.

CNN —Lebanon is reeling after facing deadly back-to-back attacks targeting Hezbollah members – with pagers simultaneously exploding across the country on Tuesday, then walkie-talkies detonating in a similar fashion on Wednesday. At least 22 people, including children, have died so far from the two attacks, which Lebanese officials have blamed on Israel. Firefighters put out flames and a crowd gathers after a reported explosion in Saida, Lebanon, on September 18, 2024. How have Hezbollah, Israel and the world responded? It appears US officials were largely in the dark until reports emerged of the explosions, according to three sources familiar with the matter.

The fact no details about the operation were given meant US officials were in the dark until reports of hundreds of exploding pagers emerged a short time later, the sources said. Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon was injured by the exploding pagers, according to Iranian state media. The notification from Israel was far more generic and vague, leaving US officials with questions about what the operation could be, the sources said. Since Hamas’ October 7 attack, Israel has regularly carried out strikes in Lebanon in response to the launch of Hezbollah drones and missiles. The breadth of Israeli operations in Lebanon over the past 11 months added to the questions about what Israel could be planning.

Ben Higgins tried to parlay his Bachelor success into a political career, but the campaign didn't last long. The focus on Bachelor Nation also makes sense given the franchise's viewership is dominated by one of the most crucial swing votes of recent elections: white women. In the past two presidential elections, white women were the most closely split demographic subgroup tracked by major exit polls. In 2016, Donald Trump won over 52% of white women against Hillary Clinton's 43%, exit polls found, while Trump bested Joe Biden in 2020 among white women 55% to 44%. The overlap between the swingiest demographic and the "Bachelor" audience suggests Bachelor Nation has value to those who seek to lead our nation.

AdvertisementHere are some mistakes you may be making while photographing the moon and how to fix them, according to two professional astrophotographers. Mistake 1: Taking photos at the wrong timeJon Carmichael captured the moon during a lunar eclipse. The silver lining is you can get better detail because you're shooting through less atmosphere and the photos will be clearer. Taking photos closer to sunset gives you more lighting compared to later at night, which will make taking a cellphone picture easier. "If you're shooting in any kind of auto setting, then you're making the camera decide for you," Carmichael said.

CNN —Ex-President Donald Trump responded to a second apparent assassination attempt that he blames on incendiary political rhetoric by inflaming the situation even more. He accused President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of inviting assassins to target him when they warn that he is a threat to democracy. But Trump’s claims that Biden and Harris bear direct culpability underscore the extreme nature of his own political instincts. Biden and Trump had a telephone conversation, and the president conveyed his relief that his erstwhile rival was safe. And when he refused to concede that he lost the 2020 election, Trump called supporters to Washington, DC, and told them to “fight like hell” or they wouldn’t have a country anymore.

“If you could find us,“ she asked, “why didn’t they?”Do you have a story to share about the use of unclaimed bodies for research? Dr. Douglas Hampers, the CEO of National Bioskills Laboratories — which had leased Honey’s torso — said he was disturbed to learn his company had received unclaimed bodies. He said his company would ensure that it no longer accepted unclaimed bodies and would adopt policies to make certain future specimens were donated with families’ permission. To curb this ghastly 19th-century practice, states adopted laws giving schools authority to use unclaimed bodies for student training and experiments. CNN —There’s no political playbook for how to deal with another apparent assassination attempt against a major-party presidential candidate within weeks of an election. The second apparent assassination attempt comes against the backdrop of a turbulent campaign that has defied convention and predictions. Another apparent attempt on his life is likely to have some level of personal impact on the former president. In normal circumstances, an apparent assassination attempt against a presidential candidate might be expected to unleash a surge of sympathy that could translate into a political boost. But it’s too early to say whether the second apparent assassination attempt will have greater political impact than the first.

An undated selfie shows Ryan W. Routh, a suspect identified by news organizations, as the FBI investigates what they said was an apparent assassination attempt in Florida on Republican presidential nominee and former U.S. President Donald Trump, in this image obtained from social media. The suspect in an apparent assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump is making his first appearance Monday in federal court in Florida. Routh was arrested Sunday after U.S. Secret Service agents opened fire near Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach while the Republican nominee was playing a round. The incident could mark the second assassination attempt against him in two months. Trump's ear was grazed by a bullet during a prior assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in July.

At least eight people died during a failed attempt to cross the English Channel from northern France, French maritime authorities said Sunday. Once the vessel reached the beach, rescue services offered medical assistance to 53 migrants, a statement from the French maritime authorities in charge of the Channel and the North Sea said. Other surveillance and rescue operations are underway Sunday along the entire Pas-de-Calais coast amid stormy weather conditions and agitated sea, French maritime authorities said. In July, four migrants died while attempting the crossing on an inflatable boat that capsized and punctured.
