For the first time ever, IHOP is making its biscuits menu available nationwide. Starting Monday, IHOP's sales — and Dine Brands' stock — could get a boost from its biscuits menu. The breakfast biscuit sandwich, with a choice of a side, will be available until Sept. 26 for $7 to appeal to budget-minded consumers. In line with that trend, IHOP crafted its biscuits menu to be versatile. More than a fifth of IHOP's sales come from to-go orders.

PARIS—Victor Wembanyama has known for a year that he will be the No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA draft. As the most highly rated prospect since LeBron James, the 7-foot-3 teenager from France is all but guaranteed a fast-track to the league. He also could have remained with his pro club in Lyon, where he had just won a French championship. Instead, he moved last summer to the Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans, a pro club with a small gym on the outskirts of Paris.
Charles Hirschkind, the chair of the anthropology department, said that the university had reduced the number of graduate students it accepts into the anthropology since 2004 by a little more than half, reflecting, he said, the department’s “weaker financial situation” and the rise in costs to support graduate students. “When we’re talking about budgetary restraints, we are also talking about priorities and where one decides to invest,” he said. And the occupation of the library, to some, is reminiscent of an earlier activist era at Berkeley. Worried that the university is trying to run out the clock until summer break and then dismantle the library, the students say they will stay as long as it takes. “They can give us the library tomorrow,” Mr. Molloy said, “and we’ll all be happy to go home.”
The owner of a bakery that features in "Emily in Paris" spoke out about online criticism he's faced. Thierry Rabineau said he felt "humiliated" by negative reviews and only wanted to do his job. He said some came in thinking "our products are going to be incredible," he told Insider. One customer wrote: "The famous croissant from 'Emily In Paris TV show' is the worst croissant I tasted in Paris and it is expensive." But while the negative reviews have weighed heavily on Rabineau, others have come to his defense.
THE EDEN TEST, by Adam SternberghA woman surprises her husband with a weeklong couples’ retreat in “The Eden Test,” Adam Sternbergh’s new thriller. Threat shimmers around their isolated cabin, though one suspects that nothing would force them to endure anything more painful than a week of “working on the relationship.”On their first date, three years earlier, Daisy licked a smudge of crème brûlée off Craig’s chin, a mischievous gesture that bound them together. They spent weekends together eating croissants and reading the paper, “its sections unfurled all around them like blueprints for some brazen upcoming heist.” “The Eden Test” shows how a couple in love can seem like a two-person army, fugitives from the outside world. As the novel’s epigraph, from Adam Phillips, puts it, “A couple is a conspiracy in search of a crime.”Now, Daisy and Craig appear less like co-conspirators than adversaries. The denim overalls that Craig used to strip off Daisy have become “those [expletive] overalls she always wears.” And Daisy is cleareyed about Craig’s failings, from his infidelities to his pretension about restaurants, “as though he’d studied in the finest culinary schools of Europe, rather than being just another dude in Brooklyn with a credit card and a subscription to Bon Appétit.” Craig is preparing to leave her for his mistress, and Daisy hasn’t been entirely honest with him, either.

As travel journalist of over 20 years, I recently interviewed more than 50 travel enthusiasts, experts and agents. New York City, U.S.Jonathan de Araujo, owner of The Vacationeer Travel Agency, calls the Big Apple "a city of superlatives." Just a short walk from the 9/11 Museum, New York City tourists can take a ferry to visit the Statue of Liberty. "It's now as much a part of New York City history as the Statue of Liberty," he says. PARIS, Jan 3 (Reuters) - France's energy suppliers have agreed to allow the country's trademark bakeries to renegotiate their contracts if they struggle to pay their bills, Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said on Tuesday. Dominique Anract, the president of the French Bakers' Confederation, earlier told Reuters that getting rid of "rotten contracts" was one of the sector's main demands. Bakery power contracts can now be reviewed on a "case by case" basis depending on each bakers' situation, he said after the meeting with executives from suppliers including EDF (EDF.PA) and TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA). Le Maire earlier said power suppliers had so far not done enough to help the country's small and medium-sized businesses cope with rising power costs. Earlier in the day, French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne confirmed plans to help French bakers cope with rising energy bills, allowing them to spread the payment of their taxes over time and possibly "the payment of their energy bills for the first months of the year".
Starbucks is making changes to its beloved Starbucks Rewards program. Customers who enroll in the chain's Starbucks Rewards program earn points — or "stars" — when purchasing food or drinks, which can then be redeemed for free menu items, like coffee. Rewards members were responsible for over half of Starbucks' sales last quarter. Starbucks Rewards members tend to have strong feelings about the program and any potential changes. The rewards program has gained over 10 million members since then, so even more people could be affected this time around.
Presumably, if you’re worried about the security of your laptop, you believe a stranger might steal it. But what’s to say the person you ask to watch your table isn’t a thief themselves? I’m in favor of social norms when they are rational and useful, but I implore cafe society: Please abandon the ones that are irrational and disruptive. Randomly selecting one person to trust — out of a room full of people you don’t know — is irrational. If you’re worried about losing your coveted table, leave something inexpensive behind, like a book or a scarf.
AL KHOR, Qatar—The section of French fans inside Al Bayt stadium was barely perceptible, a small pocket of blue in a corner of the Qatari desert that could have passed for Casablanca. Any time a French player touched the ball, he was met by a wall of whistles. But by the end of Wednesday night, that was the only section singing. With a goal in each half, France had done what most soccer fans expected—end the Moroccan fairy tale in the semifinals of the World Cup. Les Bleus, the defending champions here, had won 2-0, despite a performance that was often staler than week-old croissants.
Members love the croissants and recommend one hack to make them even better. Looking for a warm treat in the morning? Costco members have recommended one hack that'll take one of the company's baked items to the next level. Two Costco members discussed Costco's croissants in a 2017 Reddit thread. Another member added that, "Crisping up the croissants in the oven is really great stuff."
We experienced so much stress related to my father, that happy spending was a lifeline. My mom stashed away money for joy like our lives depended on it. My mom made sacrifices so we could afford joyful 'nonessentials'Much of my childhood was spent terrorized by my sociopathic father. Her philosophy — that spending money on "non-essential" pick-me-ups is actually pretty damn essential — kept us mentally (and financially) afloat. The reason I deliberately budget joy into my expenses is because I know what it's like when you can't afford to.

With my little figure now, I was getting thrown around.”Over the course of his 47-day run, Brockmann learned to endure. “I think 70-80% of it was like: we’re in the depths of hell,” he says, “and 20% of it was pretty okay.”Huge crowds turned out to welcome Brockmann at Bondi Beach. “People were just so inspired by the getting up each day, and that’s what this run became,” says Brockmann.
Richard Galanti, Costco Wholesale CFO Photo: Costco Wholesale Corp.“It takes time for changes to come through,” Mr. Galanti said. A company’s freight costs vary depending on whether they are fixed by contract for a period of time or based on spot-market rates that can change more quickly. The length of contracts as well as the company’s ability to renegotiate the terms of its agreements also affect the retailer’s freight costs, he said. These cost pressures will persist, as wages don’t tend to come down once they have gone up, Mr. Galanti said. Price increases have also hit food court items such as individual sodas and whole pizzas because of rising costs, Mr. Galanti said earlier this year.

Costco said it has no plans to raise the price of its membership or its $1.50 hot dog combo at this time. Costco exec Bob Nelson warned that membership fee hikes could come in the near future, though. Costco recently raised prices on some goods, but Nelson said the company wants to be "the best value in the marketplace." On the company's quarterly call, Costco executive Bob Nelson said the retailer has no plans to raise its membership dues at this time. He also attempted to put to bed rumors that Costco was raising the price of its famous food court staple.

When Coco Gauff arrived in Paris in May for the French Open, she did not expect the tournament to be a milestone in her tennis career. Chris Evert predicted she would win a Grand Slam championship, even at 18; John McEnroe declared that she would be No. She loved Paris. In the semifinals, she unleashed the power of her serve — one of the fastest in women’s tennis — to close out the match. In the end, Gauff lost 6-1, 6-3 to Iga Swiatek, a Polish athlete, currently ranked No.
