CNN —Former President Donald Trump is scheduled for a pre-sentencing interview with a probation officer Monday after his hush money trial conviction last month, according to a Trump campaign official and two sources familiar with the matter. The interview will be virtual and, as CNN previously reported, Trump attorney Todd Blanche will be present. In the pre-sentencing interview, a defendant is typically asked about their conviction and other basic background information such as their employment and criminal history. “President Trump and his legal team are already taking necessary steps to challenge and defeat the lawless Manhattan DA case,” Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement Saturday. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office will also submit a memo telling the judge what sentence it sees fit for Trump.

Voters in Belgium handed a victory to a conservative Flemish nationalist party, disproving polls that had predicted a sweep to first place by Flemish secessionists, preliminary results showed on Sunday. The New Flemish Alliance, a party that seeks greater autonomy for the Dutch-speaking northern half of Belgium, was poised in the national elections to become the country’s largest. The results, if confirmed in the final count, will bring relief to the country’s political establishment, which had long been bracing for a victory by the far-right party Vlaams Belang. With more than 70 percent of the votes counted nationwide on Sunday evening, the New Flemish Alliance was set to secure 22 percent of the national vote, with Vlaams Belang trailing with 17 percent.

Representatives for Lynch and US prosecutors said Lynch was acquitted on all 15 charges — one count of conspiracy and 14 counts of wire fraud. Former Autonomy finance executive Stephen Chamberlain, who faced the same charges at trial alongside Lynch, was also acquitted on all counts, the Lynch representative said. On the stand, the entrepreneur said he had been focused on tech issues, and entrusted money matters and the accounting decisions at issue to Sushovan Hussain, Autonomy’s then-chief financial officer. Hussain was separately convicted in 2018 at a trial in the same court on charges related to the deal with HP. (Photo by Eva Marie Uzcategui/Getty Images)Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will attend a fundraiser hosted by two tech venture capitalists in San Francisco on Thursday, a high-dollar event expected to draw Silicon Valley investors turned off by the Biden administration's policies. Trevor Traina, a San Francisco-based tech executive and former Trump ambassador to Austria, said business regulations implemented during Biden's presidency had alienated some people in the tech industry. Trump's campaign raked in record amounts after the guilty verdict last week, and the San Francisco event will add to his coffers. Vance, a potential running mate for Trump who previously lived in San Francisco and worked in venture capital, will attend the event, according to a source familiar with his plans. San Francisco remains a fertile fundraising ground for Democrats.

But it took awhile for Jonathan, who grew up in a frugal, single-parent household to feel fully financially secure, despite the couple's millionaire status. But the diversity of their income sources, as well as their commitment to being frugal, are some of the major reasons the couple now lives — and spends — comfortably. Rather, think of how you'd live in the case of a real financial emergency. Having a diversified group of income sources allows the couple to feel financially secure, even as they go through the usual ups and downs of launching and growing an online business.

Mike Lynch, former chief executive officer of Autonomy, arrives at federal court in San Francisco, California, US, on Monday, March 18, 2024. Representatives for Lynch and U.S. prosecutors said Lynch was acquitted on all 15 charges — one count of conspiracy, and 14 counts of wire fraud, each connected to specific transactions or communications. Former Autonomy finance executive Stephen Chamberlain, who faced the same charges at trial alongside Lynch, was also acquitted on all counts, the Lynch representative said. The trial where prosecutors said Lynch and Chamberlain schemed to inflate Autonomy's revenue was the latest chapter in a legal saga stemming from the failed deal. A professional rock climber who repeatedly sexually assaulted a woman during a weekend trip to Yosemite National Park in 2016 was sentenced on Tuesday to life in prison, prosecutors said. Mr. Barrett “used his status as a prominent climber to assault women in the rock-climbing community,” Mr. Talbert said. Three other women testified that he had sexually assaulted them, though their cases were not federally charged because they fell out of the prosecutors’ jurisdiction. “Barrett’s long history of sexual violence supports the imposition of a life sentence,” Mr. Talbert said. Timothy Patrick Hennessy and David A. Torres, the lawyers for Mr. Barrett, said in a joint statement on Tuesday: “We believe that imposition of a life sentence was excessive.

Bison have injured more people in Yellowstone than any other animal, a national park official said. Last weekend, an 83-year-old woman from South Carolina was gored by a bison that was defending its space, park officials said. It was the latest in a string of tragic events at the park involving visitors and bison, which are social animals that live in herds. In April, a 40-year-old man was injured after harassing a herd of bison and kicking one of the animals in the leg. Last July, a 47-year-old woman sustained significant injuries after being charged and gored by a bison.
