But the next bottleneck in AI infrastructure — and one to invest in — is networking, according to tech analysts. An increase in investment in generative AI model training and inference will drive the AI networking spending growth of 34% over the next five years, said the firm. "Networking creates a performance bottleneck for generative AI model development," Morningstar's analysts said. "Well-positioned networking firms are a great second derivative play to invest in generative AI," they added. Stocks to play the trend Marvell Technology is Morningstar's top pick to play the generative AI networking trend, with the firm saying it is "attractively undervalued" currently and giving investors an "immediately opportunity" to tap rising generative AI networking investment.

The financial sector, along with other value-oriented sectors, is beginning to significantly underperform the major equity benchmarks over the last six weeks. We'll share a potential short candidate, close to breaking down through a key support level that could indicate much further downside to come. First, let's visualize the relative performance of the financial sector, along with three other value sectors that have all shown deterioration since April. In searching through the financial sector for an actionable chart to play potential downside, I discovered that Progressive Corp. (PGR) is showing all the signs of a bearish rotation. BEFORE MAKING ANY FINANCIAL DECISIONS, YOU SHOULD STRONGLY CONSIDER SEEKING ADVICE FROM YOUR OWN FINANCIAL OR INVESTMENT ADVISOR.

On the morning of Jan. 6, 2021, Christopher Blair’s fake news empire was humming along. Mr. Blair had been earning as much as $15,000 in some months by posting false stories to Facebook about Democrats and the election, reaching millions of people each month. Facebook seemed to recognize its own role in fomenting an insurrection and tweaked its algorithm to limit the spread of political content, fake and otherwise. “It just kind of crashed — anything political crashed for about six months,” he said. His false posts — which he insists are satire intended to mock conservatives — are receiving more interactions on Facebook than ever, surging to 7.2 million interactions already this year compared with one million in all of 2021.

Sydney CNN —Australian authorities are investigating the distribution of deepfake pornographic images of around 50 schoolgirls, allegedly created by a teenager using artificial intelligence. Victoria Police confirmed they had arrested and released a teenager “in relation to explicit images being circulated online” pending further inquiries. Victoria is the only Australian state where sharing deepfake pornography is a criminal offense. This month, the Australian government introduced legislation to criminalize the distribution of deepfake pornography nationwide. Under the proposed law, offenders could face up to six years in prison for sharing non-consensual sexually explicit deepfake material.

Microsoft is likely to be unhappy when it discovers that its arch rival Amazon is leaning hard on GitHub for AI training data. "Our LLMs are trained on data from a variety of sources, including licensed and proprietary data, open-source datasets, and publicly available data where appropriate. It also said Amazon employees should create a "classic personal token," not a "fine-grained personal token," when signing up. Tech companies, hungry for even more training data, are also granting themselves new permissions to use a lot more of consumers' information. Though Amazon's legal team has approved the GitHub data scraping workaround, the move could put Amazon in a tricky position.

CNN —Soccer star Sam Kerr has signed a new contract with current Women’s Super League (WSL) champion Chelsea, the club announced Thursday, but not before giving her fans a minor scare. According to BBC Sport, it was Kerr’s idea to tease the fans around the news of the contract extension. Kerr has become one of the best players in women's soccer. Former Chelsea manager Hayes had made it her mission to convince Kerr to move to the WSL club back in 2019. Sonia Bompastor’s recent arrival as the new Chelsea manager marks a new era in west London, but retaining Kerr will help steady the ship.

You have to read through the job description to see what they're looking for. You have to list job titles and bullets that both reflect your experience and prove you're a good fit. With the advent of tech like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, many people are leaning into generative AI to write their resumes entirely. If you ask for a "marketing resume," for example, it will create something based on any marketing job descriptions or marketing resumes it scrapes from the web. Recruiters and hiring managers who look at hundreds of resumes say at times "100 of them look exactly the same because they all use the same ChatGPT prompt," she says.

HBO Could Use a Hit. Enter the Dragons.

The dragons are back. On Sunday, “House of the Dragon,” the “Game of Thrones” prequel series, will return to HBO for its second season. There have been disappointments (the music drama “The Idol” and the Kate Winslet-starring limited series “The Regime,” for instance), and delayed premieres because of the double Hollywood strikes last year. According to one widely used industry metric, Max, the 13-month-old streaming service that houses HBO’s shows, has plateaued during that time. But in contrast to previous years, shows from HBO and Max will not be favorites in some of the major categories, including drama, a category that HBO dominated at the most recent Emmys.

CNN —A lawsuit brought by Elon Musk’s X against the nonprofit watchdog group Media Matters has been scheduled for a trial in April 2025, according to a court filing. Thursday’s order by the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas sets the date for a high-profile showdown over Media Matters’ research highlighting antisemitic and pro-Nazi content on the social media platform. In November, X sued Media Matters, alleging that the group went out of its way to misrepresent the likelihood that users may encounter hate speech on the platform. Media Matters declined to comment. Media Matters President Angelo Carusone has previously called X’s suit “frivolous” and an attempt to silence Musk’s critics.

Analysts polled by LSEG were looking for $4.48 in adjusted earnings per share and $5.4 billion in revenue. Adobe bumped up its full-year view, calling for full-year adjusted earnings per share between $18.00 and $18.20 and revenue of $21.40 billion to $21.50 billion. The forecast in March was $17.60 to $18.00 in adjusted earnings per share, with $21.30 billion to $21.50 billion in revenue. In recent weeks software peers SentinelOne, UiPath, Veeva reduced their full-year revenue guidance citing economic weakness and corporate interest in artificial intelligence development. During the quarter, Adobe announced the availability of a service for fine-tuning the company's Firefly generative artificial intelligence models to deliver image content consistent with clients' brand guidelines.

"I don't think we should take away from this that we shouldn't take risks," Reid said. When we find new problems, we should do the extensive testing but we won't always find everything and that just means that we respond." Reid's comments come at a critical moment for Google, which is scrambling to keep pace with OpenAI and Microsoft in generative AI. "You may have seen stories about putting glue on pizza, eating rocks," Reid told employees at the all-hands meeting. Reid was introduced on stage by Prabhakar Raghavan, who runs Google 's knowledge and information organization.
