Megan Thee Stallion is suing commentator Milagro Gramz, accusing her of being a “mouthpiece,” “puppet” and “paid surrogate” for rapper Tory Lanez during and after his high-profile criminal trial. In a lawsuit filed in the Southern District of Florida on Wednesday, attorneys for Megan Thee Stallion accuse Milagro Gramz of “churning out falsehoods” about Lanez while the hip-hop superstar was on trial in 2022 and 2023. Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, real name Megan Pete, in the foot and sentenced to 10 years in prison. She is also seeking damages from Cooper “in an appropriate amount” for the emotional distress and false light counts. The lawsuit alleged that Cooper spread false information that the gun Peterson used to shoot Pete had gone missing as recently as this week.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued an El Paso doctor on Tuesday, accusing him of providing transition-related medical care to nearly two dozen minors in violation of state law. Texas enacted a law, Senate Bill 14, last year banning gender-affirming care for anyone under 18. Laws restricting access to transition-related care for minors exist in 26 states, according to the Movement Advancement Project, an LGBTQ think tank. The Texas lawsuits come just ahead of the presidential election, where transition-related care has become somewhat of a flashpoint. Trump supporters spread videos on Tuesday of long lines in Buck County, Pennsylvania, where voters were waiting to request a mail-ballot in person. Election officials allow voters to request, fill out and return their mail ballots in person at the county elections office, casting a mail ballot early. Trump and his supporters have pointed to other incidents in Pennsylvania in recent days to advance a narrative of election fraud. Trump claimed on Monday night that there were thousands of fake ballots and fraudulent mail ballot applications in two Pennsylvania counties, Lancaster and York. Whatley, the RNC chairman, also posted a photo Monday of a woman being arrested at a voting service center in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

UNRWA provides far more than humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip. Many Palestinians see darker motives, viewing the UNRWA ban as Israel's latest attempt to make their lives unlivable, first imprisoning and bombing them, now taking away their main aid lifeline. Palestinians wait to receive medicines at the UNRWA health center in Khan Younis last month. Despite its endorsements, the United States is yet to resume funding to UNRWA after Israel's Oct. 7 allegations. The Israeli Foreign Ministry has said it will use other agencies, such as the World Food Programme and the World Health Organization, to distribute aid.

Five people have been charged in Texas, accused of organizing and participating in an illegal cheating scheme that certified more than 200 unqualified teachers and saw the plot’s “kingpin” rake in more than $1 million, prosecutors announced. Investigators noticed a pattern: Numerous teacher certification candidates who previously failed certification exams would drive from faraway Texas cities to the Houston area to take an exam. Then a tip came in that exposed the cheating scheme. He'd pay her about 20% of the $2,500 to allow the cheating, Levine said. “They are going to go over every teacher, I’m sure, and take whatever action they see fit if they believe someone fraudulently obtained a certification,” Levine said.

But now the organization is turning its attention (and its rats’ noses) to the global illegal wildlife trade. “Unfortunately, organized crime knows there’s a real weak spot in detection methods of ports, seaports and airports, particularly in Africa.”Traffickers disguise wildlife products in a whole host of ways, he explains. This is particularly important given that much of the illicit wildlife trade comes from some of the world’s poorest regions. “I’m hopeful that (using rats) for detecting wildlife will be a low cost, low impact, low footprint operation,” says Allan. The illegal wildlife trade not only impacts populations of the trafficked animal or plant, it can have devastating knock-on consequences for whole ecosystems.

Subway sandwiches are short on meat, lawsuit claims

NEW YORK — A new lawsuit accuses Subway of “grossly misleading” customers by advertising sandwiches that contain at least three times more meat than it delivers. According to a proposed class action filed Monday in federal court in Brooklyn, Subway ads for its Steak & Cheese sandwich show layers of meat piled high, reaching about as high as the surrounding hero bread. In reality, according to several photos in the complaint, the fast-food chain’s sandwiches are far more bread than filling. Her lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for New Yorkers who bought the sandwiches in the last three years, for Subway’s alleged violations of the state’s consumer protection laws. Subway previously defended for more than four years against a lawsuit claiming its “footlong” sandwiches were too short.

Biden mentioned Puerto Rico, slandered as a “floating island of garbage” by a comedian at Trump’s event on Sunday night. “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,” Biden said, pausing for a moment before continuing. She’s now almost certain to be asked whether she also regards Trump’s backers as “garbage.” Her answer will only prolong the story. In a neck-and-neck race that may be decided by mere thousands of votes in swing states, neither Harris nor Trump can afford mistakes. Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, framed the effort in Virginia as a commonsense way of ensuring noncitizens don’t vote. At issue are about 1,600 voter registrations that Virginia said came from self-identified noncitizens but that a US District Court said hadn’t been fully vetted for citizenship status. Noncitizens are not allowed to vote in federal elections; none of the lower court rulings had changed that fact. But documented cases of noncitizens voting are extremely rare. Those opposed to the program relied on a 1993 law, the National Voter Registration Act, which bars states from making “systematic” changes to voting rolls with 90 days of a federal election.

Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday baselessly claimed that Pennsylvania is "cheating" at "large scale levels," escalating his spread of election fraud conspiracies in this all-important swing state. The Republican presidential nominee's Truth Social post in the final week of the race dovetailed with a broader GOP effort to sow doubts about Pennsylvania's election integrity. The efforts are similar to what Trump and his allies claimed before the 2020 presidential election. Trump went on to lose Pennsylvania to President Joe Biden by 81,000 votes. As in 2020, Trump's playbook in Pennsylvania involves exaggerating and mischaracterizing any irregularities around the state's election to bolster claims of widespread fraud.

A Russian court fined Google for not restoring YouTube accounts linked to Russian TV channels. AdvertisementA legal dispute between Google and Russia over suspended YouTube accounts has led to a fine so large that it exceeds all the money on Earth. Ivan Morozov, a Moscow-based lawyer, told the state-run TASS newswire that a Russian court ordered the tech giant to restore Russian media accounts on YouTube, a Google-owned company. To put this into perspective, the world's GDP is equivalent to about $105 trillion, a minuscule fraction of the fine. In 2022, Google's Russian legal arm, Google LLC, filed for bankruptcy, and authorities seized its bank accounts, though free services continue to operate in the country.

Partisans from both sides routinely cite early voting data to promote their candidates and express optimism or try to juice turnout based on supposedly weak numbers. Like many political observers, including at CNN, Musk has noticed the better-than-2020 GOP performance in early voting in North Carolina, Nevada and other key states. Registered Republicans make up about 32% of the early vote in Pennsylvania so far, up from 21% at this point in 2020. The improved GOP position in early voting that Musk highlighted is happening in other states as well. CNN has reached out to Terada for comment on the R-FBI’s role in Russian disinformation efforts, and ties to the state. Storm-1516 and R-FBI network members have spread at least 54 different disinformation narratives online since August 2023, according to Clemson and CNN’s analysis. “Does anyone believe that an American would be the spearhead of what some call the biggest Russian Disinformation operation since the cold war?
