A United flight attendant was taken to a hospital after an altercation with an unruly passenger. The Chicago Police Department told Insider it responded to reports of "a disturbance that had occurred on a plane." In a video shared by passenger Peter Kondelis, a woman on the plane appears to be screaming while standing in the aisle holding a young child. "A disruptive customer on a flight from San Francisco to Chicago was removed by law enforcement upon landing on Sunday, and one member of the flight attendant crew was taken to a hospital for evaluation," the spokesperson said. According to Twitter account @WindyCityWxMan, which shares real-time police scanner alerts, three ambulances were specifically requested for the flight attendant, the passenger, and the passenger's child.
Construction has been suspended at the Obama Presidential Center after a noose was found at the site on Chicago’s South Side, the builders said Thursday, condemning what they called an “act of hate.”“We are horrified that this would occur on our site,” the Lakeside Alliance, the group of construction companies building the center, said in a statement. The Lakeside Alliance said it was informed Thursday morning about the discovery at the project site and reported it to police. The Lakeside Alliance said it is pausing construction and offering a $100,000 reward to help find the person or people responsible. “This shameless act of cowardice and hate is designed to get attention and divide us,” the foundation said. The project broke ground in September 2021 and is expected to open in 2025, according to the center.

The incident led to a temporary halt in construction, the Chicago Tribune reported, citing the construction consortium that is building the center. The noose was reported to police by the Lakeside Alliance, a construction team of Black-owned companies that is building the Obama Presidential Center, which will be a museum and public gathering space commemorating Barack and Michelle Obama, the first African-American president and first lady. The Lakeside Alliance is offering a $100,000 reward to help find those responsible, the Chicago Tribune reported, citing an alliance statement. Construction on the site began in 2021 and the center is due to open in 2025.

Nov 1 (Reuters) - At least 14 people, including two children and a teenager, were shot in a drive-by shooting in western Chicago on Halloween night on Monday, but there were no immediate reports of fatalities, police said. The injured were in various condition, with several in critical and others non-life threatening, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said in a press briefing. One more person was injured after being struck by a vehicle at the site of the shooting. Citing preliminary information, Brown said one vehicle was involved in the shooting, but there were possibly two shooters. An Indiana Catholic school teacher was arrested on Thursday after officials said they found she kept a "kill list" and threatened her students, according to NBC Chicago. Carrasquillo-Torres also told the students about the "kill list," adding that they were at the bottom of the list. Carrasquillo-Torres was escorted to the principal’s office following the student’s report, in which the teacher admitted to making the statements to the student and having a kill list. She did not provide the list to the principal, but did name a specific student on the list, NBC Chicago reported. East Chicago police arrested Carrasquillo-Torres Thursday morning at her home after an emergency detention order was approved, according to NBC Chicago.
Chicago police are looking for a man who they say attacked and sexually abused an 11-year-old girl last week as she walked home from school. The attack happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Washington Park neighborhood, police said in a statement. The attacker, described as a man 45 to 60 years old, grabbed the girl from behind, put his hand over her mouth, pulled her into an alley and sexually abused her, police said. The attack involved a student at Dulles Elementary School, a K-8 campus. By Monday there had been no arrests, Chicago police said, and detectives continued to investigate.

On the night of the shooting, another Waukegan officer stopped the couple’s car and was questioning them when Williams suddenly drove off, according to investigators. The officer pursued them and Salinas responded to his call for help and joined the chase. An expert analyzing the trajectory of the bullets was able to determine the location of Salinas and the trajectory of his bullets, Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart said in the statement. Salinas surrendered to authorities on Thursday and a judge ordered that he be held on $350,000 bond, prosecutors said.
An explosion sent eight people to hospitals and caused the collapse of a nearby building in Chicago Tuesday, officials said.
