Structured certificates are financial instruments issued by a third party, that are based on underlying assets — their returns depend on the performance of the asset, which can be a single stock or an equity index. Singapore began offering listed structured certificates on Aug. 30, with its inaugural issue being one linked to Hong Kong-listed shares of Chinese tech giant Alibaba Group Holding . "So tech names, Hong Kong names, U.S. names, Japanese names. SGX's move to broaden its equity-linked product base "could drive incremental market interest," including offering depository receipts and structured certificates, Wickramasinghe told CNBC. Structured certificates are more more popular in Europe, as investors there are "broadly speaking, very yield focused," Syn told CNBC.

How Xi Returned China to One-Man Rule

Like his predecessors, Xi wields power through his control of the Communist Party, the military and the government. One-Man Party Xi overturned term limits, erased factions and installed loyalists to establish sweeping control of the Communist Party. When Xi first took power in 2012, few in the Politburo Standing Committee, the most powerful group in China, had close ties with him. Party leaders often set broad policy, and government ministries and agencies refined and implemented their goals, sending feedback to the leaders. Analysts see this more than 7 percent increase in the number of drivers as a manifestation of the subdued job market. At least four others have issued warnings of overcapacity, with some saying drivers get fewer than 10 orders a day as a result. Cai said he earns 200-300 yuan a day, driving for Didi Global - China's answer to Uber - from 8.00 am until close to midnight. Up until recently, he made 400 yuan a day plus bonuses, going home before 8.00 pm. Shanghai driver Li Weimin's rationale for working underscores the shrinking job market.

CNBC quarterly surveys of small business owners in recent years have indicated that many do not rate the risk of cyberattack highly, yet the FBI says that in recent years a wave of hacks has targeted small business. Small business owners say social media giants such as Meta have done little to help them address the problem. Malware can target victims through email phishing, browser extensions, ads and mobile apps and various social media platforms. According to SCORE, a nonprofit partly funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration, nearly half of small business owners cited social media as their preferred digital marketing channel. And social media accounts of small businesses are like a gold mine," said Joseph Steinberg, a cyber security privacy and AI expert, who sees small business social media accounts as "low hanging fruit."

Spirit AeroSystems resumes slide, sinks another 4%

A Boeing 737 MAX-10 lands over the Spirit AeroSystems logo during a flying display at the 54th International Paris Air Show at Le Bourget Airport near Paris, France, June 22, 2023. Spirit said it burned through $211 million of cash in the second quarter, adding that cash flow will not recover until the 2024-2025 time period. Analysts questioned whether Spirit would have to renegotiate labor contracts with Boeing and Airbus. Seifman said it is unclear what Boeing will do to help Spirit improve its financial health. "We instead believe Boeing and Airbus are likely to continue to contribute customer advances, allowing Spirit to benefit only as production rates improve," he said.

According to Drew, industry practice now involves detailed notes of the materials and techniques used to restore a piece. The hope is that these notes will stay with the painting into its new life for years to come. Sometimes it is a faulty repair, like in the painting Drew is working on, or sometimes the material simply ages poorly. "[People] would use materials that would change differently from the original materials because they weren't thinking about reversibility, they could be quite difficult to remove," Khandekar said. "Now, we want to use things that stay soluble that can be easily taken off without damaging or changing the original material."

REUTERS/Benoit Tessier/File PhotoWASHINGTON, June 29 (Reuters) - Spirit AeroSystems (SPR.N) said it would begin resuming operations at its plant in Wichita, Kansas, on Friday, after union workers on Thursday voted to accept a new contract and end a strike that led to a week-long work stoppage. The deal is a boon for Boeing, which is on the verge of increasing MAX production from 31 jets to 38 jets per month. Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stan Deal said on June 18 the production ramp was set to occur "pretty soon." Although Boeing maintains some buffer inventory, analysts had warned a prolonged strike could have forced the company to slow or stop MAX production. The company has been the source of several high-profile production defects on Boeing jets, such the incorrect installation of a bracket on the 737's vertical tail.
