I mean, it's not something that when I joined Formula One, I need to have a 75% win record over a season you know," he told reporters. He has led 922 laps, another record for a season, and counting. Verstappen has led the championship since the Spanish Grand Prix of May 2022 and is guaranteed to end the season with a record run of 39 races in a row as leader. He has won more times (11) from pole position in a season than any other driver, after last year setting a record for most wins in a season not from pole (nine). Red Bull's 19th win of the campaign equalled Mercedes' 2016 record and broke their rivals' record from that same season of most laps led (1,055).

These two points blunted anything that Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell had to say and that was all it took to have the best week in the stock market of the year. A year on, Mercedes return to scene of last success

Nov 1 (Reuters) - Once-dominant Mercedes return to Brazil this weekend for a last chance to avoid going a whole year without a Formula One victory. Hamilton has been second on track in the last two races, even if disqualified in Texas, with a car that looks increasingly competitive in race trim. The circuit hosted the first Brazilian Grand Prix 50 years ago and Mercedes have won there for the past two years and six times in the last eight. We need to have a great weekend in Brazil and I feel confident in our ability to get results right now." "It's a sprint race.

Technical head Elliott leaves Mercedes F1 team

LONDON, Oct 31 (Reuters) - Former Formula One world champions Mercedes announced the surprise departure of chief technical officer (CTO) Mike Elliott on Tuesday only months after he took on the role in a job swap with James Allison. Elliott had been appointed technical director in July 2021, with Allison moving to the CTO role, but they switched positions last April after Mercedes made a slow start to the season following a difficult 2022. Red Bull have won the last three drivers' titles with Max Verstappen as well as the 2022 and 2023 constructors' championships. Mercedes said Elliott, who had been with the team for 11 years and through their record eight successive constructors' titles, had chosen to depart after developing a technical strategy for the future. "Mike is a fiercely intelligent technical brain and a great team-player; he has made a strong contribution not just to winning racing cars but also to building the culture of our team.

Horner says Ricciardo looking like his old self again

MEXICO CITY, Oct 29 (Reuters) - Red Bull boss Christian Horner hailed the return of the Daniel Ricciardo of old on Sunday as the Australian raced to AlphaTauri's best result of the season at the Mexico City Grand Prix. "You couldn't fail to be impressed by Daniel this weekend," Horner told Sky Sports television. "I think fighting a Mercedes in an AlphaTauri for their best result of the year was a great performance. Ricciardo had qualified fourth on Saturday at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez and told reporters that performance was no fluke. He could have had it today but it wasn't to be but great to see Daniel looking like his old self."

Only three drivers have won more races in the history of the sport and Verstappen could have passed Sebastian Vettel, next in his sights on 53, by the end of the season. The win was also his 14th in the last 15 races and a fifth in six editions of the grand prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Second is a priority for dominant Red Bull who have never yet finished a season with their drivers first and second. The race resumed from a standing re-start, with Verstappen accelerating into the distance and Leclerc second on the hard tyres but seven-times world champion Hamilton right behind on mediums. Verstappen had seized the safety car period as an opportunity for a cheap second pitstop and some fresh hards while Leclerc had pitted just before Magnussen's accident.

MEXICO CITY, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Lewis Hamilton claimed on Thursday that more cars than his Mercedes and Charles Leclerc's Ferrari were illegal at the U.S. Grand Prix in Austin and called for a fairer system of post-race checks. Both teams accepted their punishment and blamed the sprint format, with only one practice session, and particularly bumpy track. Only four of the 15 cars that finished the race were checked for such a breach, however. "I have heard from different sources that there were many cars that had not been tested and were also illegal," Hamilton told reporters ahead of this weekend's race in Mexico City. "It's unlikely two cars (from the same team) are that different, so if one car is illegal, there is a high chance that the other car is," said the Briton.

The Mexican, second in a championship already won by Verstappen for the third year running, emphasised the slogan of a local #racepect campaign in saying what happened on track must stay on track. "Whatever happens on track should always stay there and that's the best message we as a country want to give to the rest of the world." "Checo (Perez) and I have got on very well, I don't think there is a rivalry. Sergio Perez was still in Texas when he called the Mexico City Grand Prix his most important race weekend of the season. And while Perez has been part Red Bull's crushing constructor's championship, Verstappen is so dominant that he would have Red Bull in first place all by himself. His photo adorns just about everything in Mexico City this week, from race promotional billboards, television commercials and ads for car insurance and breakfast oats. “I don't think Max is going to get the warmest reception in Mexico,” Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said this week. “I want Mexico to come out to support the whole Oracle Red Bull Racing Team, not just me,” he said.

The National Weather Service warned of hazardous travel on snowy mountain passes and ice on some highways when snow initially melts and then freezes as road temperatures drop. The snow was then forecast to spread across northern Idaho, Montana, northwestern Wyoming and North Dakota into Friday. Some higher elevations in the northern Rockies could see snow totals of 2 feet (61 centimeters) or more. Central Montana will see the worst of the snow, said Matt Ludwig, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Great Falls. Northwestern Wyoming, including Yellowstone National Park, was also under a winter storm warning, the National Weather Service said.

The International Automobile Federation said in a statement it had "begun an analysis into the situation in Qatar to provide recommendations for future situations of extreme weather conditions. "Research from other series, such as cross-country events in extreme climates, will be examined for potential applications to circuit events." At the same time, climbing real yields make it more expensive to bet against the dollar. With real yields pushing higher, "only the bravest of traders are willing to bet against the greenback," he said. That, combined with a deceleration in inflation, has sent real yields soaring. The dollar has tracked real yields in recent years, with peaks and troughs closely aligned. Still, high real yields make him hesitant to short the U.S. currency.
