LVMH, which owns labels including Louis Vuitton, Dior, Tiffany and Bulgari, said that revenue came to 19.96 billion euros ($21.16 billion), up 9% year-on-year, stripping out the effect of currency fluctuations and acquisitions. The fashion and leather goods division, home to Louis Vuitton and Dior, recorded sales growth of 9%, compared to analysts' expectations for 10% growth. LVMH is facing slowing demand for high end goods in the United States and Europe, where rising prices have prompted shoppers — especially younger generations — to pull back from a post-pandemic spending euphoria, while the recovery in China has been uneven.

The new rules threaten to shutter thousands of short-term rentals and fundamentally redraw what kinds of apartments and homes are used for short-term rentals in New York City. Data site Inside Airbnb estimates there are 40,000 Airbnb listings alone, while an economic study prepared for Airbnb by Boston University Professor Michael Salinger estimates that number is closer to 36,000. One reason for New York City's crackdown is a concern over how short-term rentals squeeze an already incredibly tight housing market. "But a lot of short-term-rental hosts are getting caught up in this lazy sweep." Currently, the average daily rate for New York City listings on Airbnb and Vrbo is $251, according to AirDNA.

During the LVMH earnings call Tuesday, CFO Jean-Jacques Guiony said sales dropped in the U.S. as aspirational consumers no longer spent on entry-level products. LVMH's U.S. sales slid 1% in the second quarter from the prior-year period. LVMH's sales in Europe increased 18% in the second quarter, and Guiony said tourists accounted for nearly half of that growth. Overall, LVMH reported sales rose 17% in the quarter, helped by a 34% increase in Asia excluding Japan. Guiony said that despite signs the broader Chinese economy is slowing, luxury spending there is "strong" after lockdowns were lifted late last year.

LVMH reported its first-quarter sales surged 17% from a year ago, beating analyst expectations, driven by a rebound in China’s luxury market from the downturn it experienced during the pandemic. Luxury goods spending bounced back more quickly than any other sector in the first quarter. Although the economic momentum has lost steam in the past couple of months, growth in luxury goods sales has accelerated. China was one of the world’s largest luxury goods markets before Covid hit. Rome CNN —History buffs will be able to stroll close to the spot where legend says Julius Caesar met his bloody end, when Rome authorities open a new walkway on the ancient site on Tuesday. According to tradition, he died in the capital’s central Largo Argentina square - home to the remains of four temples. They are all currently below street level and up until recently could only be viewed from behind barriers close to a busy road junction. From Tuesday, visitors will be able to move through the site at ground level on the walkway and see the structures up close. Italian fashion house Bulgari funded the work at a site that was first discovered and excavated during building work in Rome in the 1920s.

According to tradition, he died in the capital's central Largo Argentina square - home to the remains of four temples. Italian fashion house Bulgari funded the work at a site that was first discovered and excavated during building work in Rome in the 1920s. The area - close to where Caesar is supposed to have exclaimed "Et tu, Brute?"
