Through tens of thousands of iterations, the study team tracked how the virus affected species diversity of a bacterial community. This article contains spoilers for Episode 10 of the second season of “And Just Like That …”For most people, moments of rest are not the time for polished outfits, especially in the post-pandemic swirl of athleisure. And the bedroom itself, as a setting, is a valued place — a venue for vulnerable conversations, significant discussions or the odd laugh. Ahead of Episode 10, members of the Styles desk discussed the memorable loungewear, tote bags and kittens in the latest episode of the series. Vanessa Friedman There was a lot going on in this episode, but what I can’t get out of my mind were the pajamas (or, in some cases, the lack of them). DJ Casper, the creator of the “Cha-Cha Slide,” an infectious song from the early 2000s that sparked an international line-dance craze that rivaled the Electric Slide and drew people to the dance floor at wedding receptions, bar mitzvahs and family cookouts, has died. His wife, Kim Bradshaw, confirmed his death in a statement to ABC7 Chicago. No cause was given, but Casper had cancer for several years. In her statement to the news station, she said: “Casper was a fun-loving, giving person. Casper was born Willie Perry Jr. in Chicago on May 31, 1965.

CNN —This week, by far the most feverishly discussed outfit didn’t come from a member of the Kardashian clan or an off-duty model. Instead, it was Kristina Avakyan (known on TikTok as @subwaysessions), a New York resident who pushed the boundaries of style with a look that was anything but average. In a TikTok that’s now been watched over 1.9 million times, Avakyan paces across her runway (the 6 train subway platform) in what has become a deeply polarizing outfit. The outfit has been seen over 1.9 million times on TikTok and 62 million times on Twitter this week. The phrase “#personalstyle” has more than 858 million views on TikTok, and in 2022 the New York Times fashion critic Vanessa Friedman wrote about how to capture it.

But on the side, I make money as a prison yoga instructor — and it's been a real privilege. At the center, there were women running free community yoga classes who encouraged me to attend, and I immediately connected with the practice. In the new episode, the city is hit by a powerhouse of a snowstorm, but the protagonists have places to be. Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) is discussing her film at the Museum of Modern Art. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Che (Sara Ramirez) have to get to “Widow Con.” And Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is out in the snow searching drugstores on a complicated motherly mission to help her daughter Lily. Ahead of Episode 6, members of The New York Times’s Styles desk discussed the coats, patterns and earmuffs on display — sometimes barely visible through the squall — in the latest installment of the series. For markets, BoE communication is bottom of the class

U.S. Federal Reserve and European Central Bank expectations have meanwhile risen only marginally. For investors, clear communication from central bankers is crucial as they transmit their policy to borrowing costs through markets. The BoE was the first major central bank to start hiking rates. In contrast, they have long bet on more hikes than the BoE's main forecasts have implied are needed to tame inflation, rates futures show. BoE messaging, suggesting a reluctance to hike, has made it "very difficult" to own gilts recently, he said.

A group of UK colleges has issued guidance allowing students and staff to capitalize on AI. A group of UK colleges has agreed to a set of principles that will allow students and staff to capitalize on generative AI — as long as they use it ethically. The principles outlined a commitment to support students and staff to become "AI-literate." The guidance said staff should be able to support students' use of generative AI tools and adapt their teaching and assessment methods to allow for ethical use of the tech. University staff also need support as they look at how AI can be used to enhance their teaching and help bring subjects to life."

Its adherents may be on to something, this expert saysThe concept of self-marriage, or sologamy, has been around for years. No data exists on how many people celebrate sologamy with ceremonies, but the practice has been explored in a handful of recent news articles. CNN talked to four women who’ve married themselves. Sologamy is not legally binding in the US and is not recognized by the laws of any country. Fideli’s message to younger women struggling with self-esteem issues: It’s never too late to love yourself.

But Russian information operations could still affect US forces, a US government watchdog says. Once perceived as a conventional near-peer threat, the Russian military now appears to be more of a paper tiger. While Russia can't match the US military's hardware, it has other ways to keep it from working. Near-peer adversaries, such as China and Russia, know that and have sought ways to counter their more powerful adversary. Doing so could mean that Chinese or Russian intelligence services could not only to influence individual service members but also the performance of specific weapons.
Asked by a reporter this week what took so long, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was blunt: "There are probably a variety of reasons - probably none of them good." "The reality is, there's such great talent at that position, Black and white," Goodell said at his annual state-of-the-league media briefing. He told the New York Times that year that Black quarterbacks had not "been given the opportunity and the patience" their white counterparts had. "I never felt it was thing where people said it was harder to win with Black quarterbacks, it was more about durability. 'A PROUD MOMENT'At Super Bowl 57, Hurts will be only the eighth Black quarterback to start the title game.
A drenching is always amusing, but it’s her tutu that makes that scene indelible. The show’s costume designer, Patricia Field, was insistent on the garment, saying in an interview, “Whatever she’s wearing has to be completely original to last in time.”That iconic look embodies “big-skirt energy,” a mood dominating the resort and spring 2023 collections. A skirt needn’t literally be big to possess BSE. But whether maxi or midi, spangled or satin, printed or plain, it must project outsize attitude. And women are gravitating to that, reports Marc Rofsky, a buying director at e-commerce site Moda Operandi, who’s seen year-over-year, double-digit growth in skirts between October and January 2023.
FedEx did not say how many positions would be affected by the new layoffs. In mid-September, FedEx pulled its profit forecast and shares swooned more than 20% - the largest single-day drop in the company's 50-year history. But those numbers only tell part of the story because they exclude roughly FedEx 6,000 contractors and their workers, who handle most of the FedEx Ground's home delivery business. FedEx already has temporarily furloughed workers at its trucking division FedEx Freight as the pandemic-fueled e-commerce delivery bubble deflates and recession threatens, joining transportation-focused companies ranging from delivery upstart Amazon.com (AMZN.O) and trucking company C.H. Robinson Worldwide (CHRW.O) to freight broker Uber Freight and freight forwarding startup Flexport in announcing layoffs.
