It’s not hard to conclude that former President Donald Trump himself makes it nearly impossible to have the type of debate Vance and Walz participated in Tuesday night. But Trump has never participated in a debate that didn’t devolve into something more pugilistic and even immature and juvenile at times. Going into this debate, I assumed that both vice presidential nominees would be more focused on the tops of the tickets. CNN —The North American Aerospace Defense command intercepted Russian military aircraft flying near Alaska three times over the last week in what appears to be an uptick in activity amid tensions between the US and Russia. The US and Canada, which make up NORAD, first intercepted a pair of Russian military aircraft on Wednesday. On Friday, a pair of TU-142s, Russian reconnaissance and anti-submarine aircraft, were detected by NORAD. One day later, the US and Canada intercepted two Russian IL-38 planes, another type of reconnaissance and anti-submarine military aircraft. The aircraft this past week did not enter US or Canadian sovereign airspace, NORAD said.

A special prosecutor announced Friday that Georgia Lt. Gov. Burt Jones will not be charged over efforts to overturn Donald Trump’s electoral defeat in the 2020 presidential election.
