Six months later, borrowers are still waiting, and the department said relief will now take "some time." Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said at the time that the impacted Corinthian borrowers will see their loans "immediately forgiven." This prompted Biden's Education Department to reform the process. Still, aside from the June announcement of relief, none of the Education Department's recent actions are giving Corinthian borrowers any certainty.

CNN —Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of failed blood testing startup Theranos who was convicted of fraud earlier this year, is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday morning by a judge in court in San Jose, California. The list includes Holmes’ partner, Billy Evans, many members of Holmes’ and Evans’ families, early Theranos investor Tim Draper, and Sen. Cory Booker. The 2019 lawsuit was filed in response to a backlog of borrower defense claims that hadn't been processed. The Secretary's improper delay and suspension of processing claims for debt relief has directly led to a specific economic injury to each class member. "It immediately delivers certainty and relief to borrowers who have been waiting years for a fair resolution of their borrower defense claims," she added.

The FEC is asking questions about campaign contributions to Adam Laxalt and Catherine Cortez Masto. Government watchdog OpenSecrets reports that the Cortez Masto and Laxalt campaigns have raised $52.9 million and $15.5 million, respectively, as of October 19. Campaigns must adequately respond to the inquiries or face potential action by the FEC, including audits, investigations, and fines. The FEC reached out to Warnock rival Herschel Walker's campaign in March regarding excessive contributions from 17 supporters. Cortez Masto has until December 12 to respond to the FEC.

Gretchen Whitmer defeated Republican challenger Tudor Dixon on Tuesday, securing her bid for re-election and keeping a Democrat atop the critical swing state, NBC News projects. But Whitmer held on, boosted by tens of millions of dollars in ad spending that Dixon, a former right-wing commentator endorsed by former President Donald Trump, never matched. Whitmer and Lt. Gov.
