Cooking bacon in an air fryer is pretty easy. Bacon may not be as greasy if you cook it in an air fryer. grass-lifeisgood/ShutterstockJess Dang, chef and founder of meal-planning service Cook Smarts, told Business Insider that bacon is one of her favorite things to cook in an air fryer. "Fat drips from the bacon and out of the basket, so the bacon ends up leaner," she told BI. "It's so much less messy and requires less supervision than other cooking methods."

Investors and Wall Street analysts may want to take a closer look at stocks that could be winners under a President Kamala Harris after Tuesday night's debate . National polls showed a tight race heading into the debate, but some now believe Harris could get a bump from her performance. "We expect a near-term bounce towards Vice President Harris following the first debate with former President Trump, but the longer-term impact remains unclear," Raymond James Washington analyst Ed Mills said in a note to clients late Tuesday night. Wolfe Research has a similar list of stocks in an anti-Trump trade basket, including health care stocks like Centene and HCA . Of course, it could be difficult for new Democratic policies to become law even with a Harris win in November, depending on how Congressional races shake out.

The fervor and passion surrounding women's sports aren't going to go away, said Jessica Berman, commissioner of the National Women's Soccer League. Gotfredson noted that fans of women's sports are "fanning differently" and are more engaged "from a brand partner perspective" than those who follow men's sports and male athletes. "It's still a small percentage of brands spending in women's sports," she said. Both Brink and USC's women's basketball star JuJu Watkins agreed that more women's sports games need to be more accessible for fans, with Brink saying "keep showing it and making it easier to watch." Yet Berman said women's leagues have a lot of catching up to do.

Parents, put down your phones (sometimes)
  + stars: | 2024-09-06 | by ( Dr. Katie Hurley | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +7 min
As a therapist who works with teenagers, I routinely hear from clients that their parents consistently criticize kids’ phone use but don’t curb their own use. Parents often tell me the same thing — their kids are glued to their phones and don’t listen when they try to engage them. And when parents feel rejected, they also turn their attention to their phones. I tell parents and kids alike that everyone needs to make changes in their technology habits to restore positive communication and trust. Keeping phones out of the bedroom is a common rule among parents of tweens and teens, yet this rule doesn’t often apply to the parents (guilty as charged).

New York CNN —Chipotle is already getting into the Halloween spirit. The fast-casual chain announced a costume collection with Spirit Halloween Wednesday, the seasonal Halloween costume store that pops up every year in abandoned storefronts. Two years ago, it posted a fake “Chipotle Fork” bodysuit with the caption “Found ur costume.” Then last year, another fake “Chipotle Napkin” costume showed up on its Instagram. The Chipotle Fork costume, for example, is just a plain black, polyester bodysuit. “Our popular Halloween tradition, Boorito, began with a burrito-themed costume contest and now we’re taking it to the next level with the launch of our first-ever costume collection in collaboration with Spirit Halloween,” said Chris Brandt, chief brand officer at Chipotle in a statement.

July marked a third straight month that egg prices rose on an annual basis, a reversal from a year of relative decreases. The culprit was a continued battle against the highly pathogenic avian influenza, known in short as HPAI or the bird flu. Inflation in egg prices became a focus for consumers during the pandemic given their ubiquity in everyday cooking. The bird flu had a historic outbreak in 2022 and surged once again at the end of 2023. That can underscore the impact of any bird flu outbreaks on the prices customers see on grocery store shelves.

London CNN —The United States and Europe are racing to narrow China’s commanding lead in clean energy technologies, throwing subsidies at local manufacturers and hiking tariffs on Chinese imports in a strikingly protectionist turn. Without China’s electric vehicles (EVs), solar panels, wind turbines, and batteries, reducing planet-heating pollution could take longer and ultimately increase costs for businesses and consumers. Beijing’s virtual monopoly on the processing of some critical minerals comes with particular risks for the global green transition. Zhu Haipeng/VCG/APAny delay in switching to clean energy will exact a heavy toll on the planet. Birol at the IEA also advocates for trade policies that diversify supply chains while reducing the risk of delays to the clean energy transition.

PARIS — Two-time WNBA champion A'ja Wilson scored 21 points as the United States survived an unexpectedly close contest from host France, winning 67-66 for their eighth straight Olympic gold medal in women's basketball on Sunday. The U.S. women last lost in Olympic play when they failed to bring home gold in 1992. But after France drew a foul and Cooper made both free throws, a last-minute shot by Williams was not enough. "The dynasty we've built here at USA Basketball has been incredible," Wilson said in a postgame interview. For the first time in Olympic history, the gold medal games in both the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments were between the same nations.

PARIS — France was the official opponent; Team USA, its own worst enemy. And against an eager, home-crowd boosted team like France, it sure looked like the U.S. picked a bad game to have a bad game. This was not the kind of game that Team USA had built its reputation on and not the kind of play that looked worthy of eight consecutive gold medals, let alone one. Not long ago, Bangladesh was hailed as an economic miracle. Its singular focus on exporting textiles and apparel delivered rapid growth, lifting millions out of poverty and winning the country’s prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, fame and admiration. But Ms. Hasina’s abrupt exit from power this week has exposed the limitations of that strategy, as Bangladesh struggles to combat steep inflation and joblessness that economists say are largely the result of poor policy decisions. Her increasingly authoritarian rule and Bangladesh’s widespread corruption only added to the frustration that boiled over and forced her ouster. Student protesters who had called for Ms. Hasina’s resignation have brought in Muhammad Yunus, a Nobel laureate and microfinance pioneer, to oversee an interim government.
