"This is the bank stock to buy, if you want to buy a bank stock," Jim offered, arguing that the regulatory snag shouldn't be a huge surprise to the market either. The agency said in a statement that Wells Fargo has already started to take corrective steps to remedy these issues. During Thursday's September Monthly Meeting, he said he would consider Wells Fargo as an honorary 13 core portfolio holding . In Trump's case, Electric Avenue was used for a commercial purpose, not for an allowable non-profit, research, or educational purpose, the judge wrote. The second factor looks at whether the copyrighted work was "creative" or "factual." The third factor weighs how much of the copyrighted work was taken for an unauthorized use. "In this case, there is no public benefit as a result of the defendants' use of 'Electric Avenue'" the judge wrote.

Here's a rapid-fire update on all 32 stocks in Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust, the portfolio we use for the CNBC Investing Club. AMD shares have caught a bid in recent days, but they're still cheap considering the growth of its AI processors. Broadcom : Investors who don't own any Broadcom yet should consider starting a position here, Jim said. Although it's tempting to offload shares, Jim said to stick with Honeywell for now because there's huge value in individual businesses like aerospace. There's little negative to say about this portfolio stock.

Mr. Ford kept their daughter at home to ensure Ms. Ford wouldn’t tell anyone in the emergency room how Robert’s injury happened. Ms. Ford, now 65, is serving a sentence of life without parole at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla. Leigh Goodmark, the author of the book “Imperfect Victims,” said that self-defense law imagines two parties of equal strength, size, weight and physical capability. But where self-defense law really fails to capture a woman’s experience is around the question of imminence. For women like Ms. Ford, Ms. Ayobi and many others, killing their way out of a relationship was an act of salvation — for themselves, for their children.

Reinhard parted ways with previous ad sales leader Peter Naylor in July, in Netflix's second ads leadership shake-up in two years. To get a sense of how Reinhard is approaching the hire, Business Insider spoke with 11 people who had inside knowledge about the search or who are close to Netflix's ad business. Others with those credentials who some insiders think could be in the mix include Pooja Midha, EVP and GM for Effectv, the ad sales arm of Comcast's cable division. "They view ad sales as having a lack of rigor and discipline," the first person who'd had conversations with Netflix said. Netflix also shook up its ad sales leadership twice, with its first ads leader Jeremi Gorman being replaced after a year, and then with Naylor's recent exit.

New York CNN —For DirecTV subscribers frustrated by the loss of ESPN and other Disney-owned channels, the TV provider is offering some compensation as the blackout stretches into its third day. The company is offering credits of at least $20 to customers who have DirecTV, DirecTV Stream and U-Verse services — but customers won’t get the credit automatically. Trump's lawyers are expected to argue that, for decades, Grant somehow neglected to copyright the sound recording, or "master," for "Electric Avenue." Trump's lawyers acknowledge that Grant copyrighted the sheet music 40 years ago. Trump's side may argue that even Grant has tacitly acknowledged that the sound-recording copyright for "Electric Avenue" was never properly nailed down. Two weeks ago, on August 15, Grant applied to the US Copyright Office "for a sound-recording copyright registration of Electric Avenue," a court filing says. AdvertisementAnd Grant has been deposed by Trump's lawyers, who asked the artist to "explain" the song.

Greek organizations tend to be the domain of colleges, with students pledging and developing life-long connections in fraternities and sororities. But Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign is thrusting Black Greek organizations into the political sphere. She is the first presidential nominee to come from a Divine Nine Greek organization, so would be the first president from the Black Greek system if elected. That means Harris has ready access to the Divine Nine’s more than 2 million members — including activists, community leaders, philanthropists and more — and what could be a potentially powerful voting and mobilization bloc. U.S. gymnast Jordan Chiles was stripped of her floor exercise bronze medal Sunday by the International Olympic Committee after a scoring inquiry was deemed invalid. Chiles is the only gymnast in history to be stripped of an Olympic medal for reasons other than age falsification or failed drug tests. The bronze medal debacle is the sport's most high-profile controversy since the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, the site of the biggest scandal in Olympic gymnastics history. Jordan Chiles competes during the Women's Gymnastics Floor Routine final competition at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, at the Bercy Arena in Paris, on Aug. 5, 2024. The U.S. women's gymnastics team, which initially finished fourth in 2000, was awarded the bronze medal in 2010 after the Chinese team was disqualified.

"Each songwriter belongs to a single PRO, so the Trump campaign would have needed to secure a license from the appropriate PRO," Litman said. According to BMI, Trump's campaign has taken out a "political entities license" from BMI for his 2016, 2020, and 2024 campaigns. Read previewA contentious judging decision and messy appeals process has roiled women's gymnastics — and spiraled into an international argument for Olympic bronze between the US and Romania. It kicked the final decision to the International Olympic Committee, which ordered Chiles to return her bronze medal. On Sunday, USA Gymnastics said it had video evidence — which it hadn't previously submitted — which proved Landi's inquiry was made within 47 seconds. USA Gymnastics vowed Monday to "continue to pursue every possible avenue and appeal process, including to the Swiss Federal Tribunal." USA Gymnastics declined to comment beyond the statements on its website.

USA Gymnastics said Monday it can prove that a coach's appeal that put gymnast Jordan Chiles on the podium for a bronze medal in Paris was by the book, but the effort may be futile because the governing court said its rules don't allow for reconsideration in this case. However, Monday’s statement calls into question whether Chiles can keep her medal, which the International Olympic Committee said she must return, upholding the CAS ruling. “USA Gymnastics was notified by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Monday that their rules do not allow for an arbitral award to be reconsidered even when conclusive new evidence is presented,” USA Gymnastics said in its statement. But Chiles' coach, Cecile Landi, filed an inquiry, which was accepted and resulted in an elevated score of 13.766, allowing Chiles to leapfrog Bărbosu for bronze. The Romanian Gymnastics Federation and Bărbosu subsequently filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, arguing the inquiry was too late.

The mother of a newborn baby discovered dead in a dumpster in California nearly 40 years ago has been arrested, accused of murder after she was identified using DNA technology. The newborn baby girl was found by a man rummaging for recyclables in a dumpster behind a business in the 5400 block of La Sierra Avenue in Riverside on Oct. 13, 1987, Riverside Police said.
