NEW YORK, May 9 (Reuters) - Amazon (AMZN.O) said on Tuesday it had begun selling users of mobile games related physical items such as T-shirts and toys as it teamed up with the makers of Pokemon GO to provide merchandise related to a new game. The e-retailer announced a business-to-business program called Amazon Anywhere allowing video game makers to sell goods directly through their respective platforms. However, most retailers to date have focused on making digital replicas of physical goods, rather than selling related real-life merchandise. Amazon Anywhere will be offered to any gaming company that wants to turn its platform into an e-commerce site, the retailer said, allowing players to shop from video games, augmented reality apps and other mobile apps. The Amazon service is now available on Peridot, an augmented reality pet game made by Pokemon GO developer Niantic.
The U.S. lawmakers want the SEC to mandate Shein to independently audit and verify "that the company does not use Uyghur forced labor as a condition of being registered to issue securities in the United States," the letter said. Sources have said Shein is eyeing an IPO in the U.S. this year. Rights groups and governments have accused China of forced labor and internment of Uyghurs, a mainly Muslim ethnic minority, in Xinjiang. They say the exception allows websites selling cheap Chinese goods to evade millions of dollars in taxes and fees, as well as regulations banning forced labor in the consumer product supply chain. "As a global company, SHEIN takes visibility across our entire supply chain seriously.

The company also raised its full-year profit forecast to 360 billion yen ($2.7 billion) from 350 billion yen ($2.63 billion). Daisuke Tsukagoshi, Uniqlo North America chief executive, said in an email to Reuters that the chain chose to launch the Ottawa and Calgary stores after seeing a "strong online presence" there. Last year, all of the record 15 shareholder proposals were rejected by investors' votes. Shareholder proposals across industries have increased since 2020, but support for them fell from 2021 to 2022, according to a PWC report. The report would detail the "impact of (Amazon's) policies, management, performance metrics, and targets," Tulipshare's proposal said. Tulipshare, which owns 13 shares or about $7,000 in Amazon stock, secured 44% of investors' votes in 2022. Amazon is recommending that shareholders reject Tulipshare's proposal, saying the company continually works to improve "safety processes, programs, and technology."
Companies Amazon.com Inc FollowNEW YORK, April 13 (Reuters) - E-retail giant Amazon (AMZN.O) is facing 18 shareholder proposals, beating its 2022 record of 15 proposals, as environmental, social and governance (ESG)-focused investors push for more changes in the company, according to Amazons' proxy statement released on Thursday. The number of shareholder proposals across industries has grown since 2020. Last year, all of the record 15 shareholder proposals were rejected by investors’ votes. Although Amazon has a record number of proposals on the ballot this year, this is not the most proposals that have been submitted by shareholders to the company. Amazon can challenge submissions with the Securities Exchange Commission or negotiate with investors to provide audits and reports outside of the annual shareholder meeting.
Tulipshare secured 44% of investors’ votes in 2022. Amazon's board has recommended shareholders vote against each of the 18 proposals. Last year, all of the record 15 shareholder proposals were rejected by investors’ votes. Amazon did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the increase in shareholder proposals. The proposals will be voted on during Amazon's annual meeting on May 24.
Approximately 0.5% of Etsy's active sellers -or around 2,700 merchants- had their payments delayed on Friday related to SVB's collapse, according to Etsy. The payments Etsy sellers received is unrelated to the Federal Reserve's Sunday announcement, which ensured that SVB's customers would have access to their funds on Monday. Shopify has temporarily paused payments to its merchants who receive payments to SVB accounts. These online sellers must update their bank accounts that have no connections with SVB to resume getting payments. Switching bank accounts can pose a problem for sellers whose sole business account was with SVB.
In U.S. federal court, SHEIN has accused Temu of contracting social-media influencers to make "false and deceptive statements" against SHEIN in their promotions of Temu.com. If Temu loses, Temu could be forced to curtail what so far has been a key marketing strategy. SHEIN seeks to block Temu from using SHEIN's name for marketing, and it wants damages from sales that SHEIN can show came through deceptive or infringing marketing. Social media influencers on TikTok often mention SHEIN in posts about Temu, comparing the companies and their merchandise. In the U.S., Temu is paying social media influencers $100 to $1,000 an hour for content plugging the Temu marketplace on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
