CNN —Vince McMahon has resigned from his role as executive chairman of TKO, the parent company of WWE, following disturbing allegations of sexual assault, trafficking and physical abuse. In the lawsuit, Grant alleged that McMahon dangled a job offer at WWE – and later promotions – in exchange for sex. McMahon engaged in acts of “extreme cruelty and degradation” toward Grant during her time at WWE, the lawsuit alleged. He initially retired from his role as CEO and chairman of WWE in July 2022 amid allegations of sexual misconduct. The investigation was closed in November 2022 and McMahon returned to WWE’s board in January 2023.

As it stands, few landlords routinely report rent payments to credit bureaus. (Negative rent information can end up in credit files if a landlord reports delinquent accounts or sends them to a collection agency.) But in recent years, policymakers have been exploring whether consumers can benefit from having on-time rent payments included in credit scores, just as payments for mortgages, car loans and credit cards are. Reporting on-time rent payments is viewed as a way to reduce disparities in homeownership. And consumer advocates continue to recommend freezes despite recent revelations that TransUnion, one of the three major credit bureaus, botched “tens of thousands” of freeze requests over a period of years. “It’s still a good idea to freeze your credit,” said Mike Litt, director of the consumer campaign at PIRG, a network of public interest advocacy groups. NEW YORK (AP) — Zipcar has been slapped with a $300,000 fine after U.S. regulators found that the car-sharing company allowed customers to rent vehicles that had open recalls, violating federal motor safety law. The civil penalty is a part of a consent order that the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration announced Monday. It marks NHTSA's first enforcement action against a rental car company over recalls, the agency said. “Vehicles with open, unrepaired recalls pose a safety risk to everyone on the road," NHTSA Acting Administrator Ann Carlson said in a statement. House Republicans voted on Wednesday to nominate Rep. Steve Scalise to be the next speaker. As they left, lawmakers had to wave pieces of paper with numbers on them to get their phones back. During a conference meeting on Wednesday overseen by current House Conference Chair Rep. Elise Stefanik of New York, Republicans nominated House Majority Leader Steve Scalise to be their party's choice for speaker of the House. The House is set to begin voting on a new speaker at 3pm Wednesday, and it remains unclear how long that will take.

The Cruise petition, filed in February 2022, seeks government approval to deploy vehicles annually without steering wheels, mirrors, turn signals or windshield wipers. Current on-road self-driving Cruise vehicles have human controls. NHTSA said Cruise vehicles "may engage in inappropriately hard braking or become immobilized."
