Alchemation, known for the international hit "SIX," is among an increasingly established presence of musical theatre at the Fringe, which takes over the Scottish capital for the month of August. The company's "Hello Kitty Must Die," based on the novel by Hong Kong-born, U.S.-based writer Kate Kamen (formerly Angela S. Choi) is playing at Edinburgh's Pleasance until Aug. 27. It transferred to London's West End, where it was spotted by Alchemation, which took it to Broadway and beyond. It is the first time one of its diversity grants has supported a musical as the genre cements its presence. The Pleasance alone has 16 musicals this year, its most yet, it said, out of roughly 140 across the Fringe as a whole.

Hong Kong CNN —The world’s smallest bear is finally having its moment in the sun – thanks to a viral video that sparked a conspiracy theory on Chinese social media. “With all the media attention surrounding the (sun bear videos) we have a good opportunity to further educate ourselves to save this species.”Taronga Zoo is not alone. However, the main characteristic of a patriarchal society is one where men hold more power and authority which subsequently leads to male privilege. As such, a woman's place in a patriarchal society is primarily to be homemakers, procreators or caregivers. Gender inequality -- the unequal treatment of someone based solely on their gender -- is an outcome of patriarchal societies but the terms do not mean the same thing. Despite strides towards sex equality that have been gaining momentum for more than a century, the US remains a patriarchal society. While not evenly accorded to all males, being assigned male at birth in a patriarchal society comes with privileges.

Sun, moon, grizzly, black, spectacled, sloth: Bears all over the world can stand, shuffle, totter and walk on two legs, though they usually prefer four. But a zoo in Hangzhou, China, decided that the best way to clear up a conspiracy theory about one of its bears was to release a statement in the bear’s voice. The confusion appeared to begin in late July, when a video surfaced on the Chinese social media site Weibo of a sun bear named Angela standing on a rock in its zoo enclosure, with ramrod posture on its hind legs. Some Weibo users began to cast doubt on the ursine truth of the bear. Some accused the zoo of using a dog impostor — sun bears can grow to the proportions of a large dog, about four and a half feet long and up to 145 pounds.

Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin is not even in Belarus, Lukashenko told CNN – he is in Russia, Lukashenko claimed. Available satellite imagery has also not shown any signs of the kind of preparations and security that would be standard at a Russian nuclear facility. Russia has the world’s largest arsenal of nuclear weapons, with 4,477 deployed and reserve nuclear warheads, including around 1,900 tactical nuclear weapons, according to the Federation of American Scientists. “Putin does not need tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus to use those weapons,” Bergmann added. “But it is concerning to the US that tactical nuclear weapons could potentially be co-located in Belarus with Wagner fighters.

It comes as Russia's military is tied down in Ukraine and less able to respond to crises elsewhere. Those questions come as a Ukrainian offensive bears down on Russia's military, which since late last year has been replenishing its forces in Ukraine with aging equipment and under-trained personnel. These efforts have bolstered Russian units in Ukraine but left the Russian military more vulnerable elsewhere and undermined its ability to respond to other crises, experts say. Russia's military has tried to show it still has muscles to flex, mostly with air and naval forces that are largely undamaged by the war. Russian troops board a military aircraft on their way to Kazakhstan in January 2022.

Even as many aspects of the hiring process change — AI bots are vetting resumes, job interviews are moving online — one thing remains unchanged: the importance of the thank-you note. To really impress your interviewer, consider sending a handwritten thank-you note instead. It also takes the pressure off the interviewer to respond — and that thoughtfulness "goes a really long way," she adds. Above all, sending a thoughtful, handwritten thank-you note is the easiest way to show off your soft skills to an employer. "Everything goes back to communication: the ability to have a firm handshake, to send a thank-you note in the mail … those are all things that a lot of your peers probably aren't doing."

A job interview is the best opportunity to sell yourself to a prospective employer — but one lackluster response could tank your chances of landing the role. There's one phrase, in particular, you should avoid saying in a job interview at all costs, says Angela Santone, AT&T's senior executive vice president of human resources. The worst response to that question, she explains, is giving no response at all. "I've always been amazed when I've asked people that question and they say, 'I can't think of one,'" says Santone. You want to show your interviewer that you're comfortable talking about those missteps, and, more importantly, that you learned something and grew from that experience."

A proposed class-action lawsuit claims that DoorDash charges iPhone users more than Android owners. Building this trust is essential, and it's why the majority of delivery orders on our platform are placed by return customers. According to the lawsuit, "DoorDash charges the expanded range fee on iPhone users more often than Android users and charges iPhone users more for 'delivering' (likely because studies reveal iPhone users earn more)." Ross Hecox, Reid Hecox, US District Court for the District of MarylandIn other cases, iPhone users were charged a slightly higher delivery fee, according to the lawsuit. Others balked at the suit's claim that iPhone users were in a higher-income bracket and thus being charged higher fees.
