A dead goose was found in part of the flight control system of a medical helicopter that crashed in western Oklahoma, killing all three people on board, according to a preliminary report by the National Transportation Safety Board. The report does not cite a suspected cause of the crash, but noted one goose was found in the helicopter's flight control system and others were found in the debris field. A report on the probable cause could take up to two years to complete, according to the NTSB. The helicopter crashed Jan. 20 in a pasture near Hydro, about 60 miles (97 kilometers) west of Oklahoma City, as it was returning to Weatherford after taking a patient to an Oklahoma City hospital. Oklahoma and Mississippi already have laws authorizing the use of nitrogen gas for executions, and some other states, including Nebraska, have introduced measures this year to add it as an option. “This is a chapter in a long-running story in the United States,” Sarat said. OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma prosecutor is dropping a murder charge against a 15-year-old who was accused in the fatal shooting of another teenager at a high school football game. Carter died after being shot in August during the Del City-Choctaw high school game in Choctaw on the eastern outskirts of Oklahoma City. One was a 42-year-old man who Oklahoma County Sheriff Tommie Johnson III said was shot by one of the two off-duty Del City officers who accompanied the Del City team to the game. Both of those officers were placed on paid leave, Del City police Chief Loyd Berger said at the time. A Del City police spokesperson did not immediately return a message Saturday for comment on the status of the Del City officers.

A group of poultry producers, including the world’s largest, have asked a federal judge to dismiss his ruling that they polluted an Oklahoma watershed. Arkansas-based Tyson Foods, Minnesota-based Cargill Inc. and the others say in a motion filed Thursday that evidence in the case is now more than 13 years old. A spokesperson for Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond did not immediately return a phone call for comment Saturday. “The Court’s findings and conclusions rest upon a record compiled in 2005–2009,” the poultry companies' motion stated. Attorneys for the companies and the state attorney general each said in Thursday filings that mediation had failed.

Activists were on Capitol Hill this week to urge support for Ukraine. Insider attended a meeting between the activists and Sen. Markwayne Mullin, an Oklahoma Republican. Mullin supports aid for Ukraine, but staff warned that calls from constituents have been "mixed." A majority of Republican lawmakers are no longer so sure, at least publicly, that defending Kyiv from the Kremlin is in America's strategic interests. ☆ Biden administration picks 31 regional tech hubs to spur US innovation

Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo told reporters the program aimed to diversify the United States away from its traditional tech hubs like Silicon Valley, Seattle and Boston. White House National Economic Director Lael Brainard said the regional tech program makes "smart public investments in critical technologies in every region of the country." The designated regional tech hubs are in places like Montana, Wisconsin, upstate New York, Vermont, Nevada, Illinois and Puerto Rico, and are focused on areas including semiconductors, clean energy, critical minerals, biotechnology, artificial intelligence and quantum computing. Raimondo said the administration next year plans to award about five to 10 of the 31 tech hubs up to $75 million each. Biden this year asked Congress for $4 billion to fund additional regional tech hubs.
