In the first college admissions process since the Supreme Court struck down affirmative action last year, Asian American enrollment at the most prestigious U.S. schools paints a mixed, uneven picture. Columbia University — which, unlike the other Ivies, groups Pacific Islanders with Asian Americans — saw an increase of nine percentage points in its enrollment of Asian American applicants, while Brown saw an increase of four percentage points. It doesn’t mean that race is entirely ruled out of the admissions process, however. Poon, who is the author of “Asian American is Not a Color: Conversations about Race, Affirmative Action, and Family,” said that with race masked in the admissions process, concerns around biases are actually more prevalent. And it’s going to be difficult to determine, for example, why there were drops in Asian American enrollment at some schools as well.

But as Trump drives toward a potential second term, one thing is clear: He’s just getting started. Biden’s support among Democratic voters has inched up to 91% from 85% in April, while 93% of Republicans back Trump (about even since April). However, most Democrats and Democratic-leaning registered voters (56%) say the party has a better shot at the presidency with someone other than Biden, while 43% say the party stands a better chance with him. Biden’s strengths are on abortion and reproductive rights (44% trust Biden, 32% Trump) and health care (44% Biden to 34% Trump). The CNN poll was conducted by SSRS from June 28-30 among a random national sample of 1,274 adults drawn from a probability-based panel, including 1,045 registered voters. For results among registered voters, it is plus or minus 3.7 points.

CNN —As the conservative Supreme Court majority has won case after case in recent days, liberal dissenters are having their moment in the courtroom. Other justices stared out at spectators or down at notes, perhaps anticipating the next opinions, and dissents, to be revealed. The court majority reversed a 1984 milestone that required judges to defer to reasonable agency interpretations of their congressional mandates. Her oral dissent lasted nearly 15 minutes, about five minutes longer than Roberts’ rendition of the majority opinion. They begin with the author of the majority opinion delivering the facts of the case, law involved, and the resolution.
