She moved to Tulsa for the Tulsa Remote program, with a one-year stipend of $10,000. AdvertisementAdvertisementThis as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Lillian Griffith, a 25-year-old data engineer at General Motors, who moved to Tulsa for the Tulsa Remote program. I initially heard about the Tulsa Remote program through my mom, who joined the program in 2021 and then referred me to it later. I applied for the Tulsa Remote program in early 2022 and it only took me about a week to get tentatively approved. I told her that I moved here for the Tulsa Remote program, and then she said she was also in the program.

Aria Mia Loberti and Mark Ruffalo Photo: NETFLIXTo judge by “All the Light We Cannot See,” it’s no wonder the Nazis lost World War II. They can’t even find the one angelic blind girl with a radio transmitter sending out coded messages. All the Light We Cannot See Thursday, NetflixThe series certainly is. Based on the popular novel by Anthony Doerr and set in the occupied France of 1944, it involves the French, English-accented Marie-Laure (Aria Mia Loberti) and German soldier Werner Pfennig (Louis Hofmann). As has probably already become clear, one needs to approach this four-part series as a fairy tale, or surrender unconditionally.

I've been in this industry for two decades and still see people make the same mistakes at the bar. After all, you don't know the person's situation and it's always good to err on the side of caution. Eisai on Wednesday said an injectable version of the Alzheimer's drug Leqembi showed promising initial results in a clinical trial, potentially paving the way for a new and more convenient option for administering the antibody treatment. Eisai and Biogen said in a release that they plan to apply for U.S. approval of subcutaneous Leqembi by the end of March. Eisai presented the preliminary results, from an extension to a late-stage trial that supported the approval of intravenous Leqembi, at the Clinical Trials on Alzheimer's Disease conference in Boston. The study specifically showed that the injectable form of Leqembi removed 14% more plaque than the approved intravenous formulation. Blood concentration levels of the drug were 11% higher with subcutaneous Leqembi than the other version.

After graduating, I chose Google over other companies because it offered a lot more support and resources: The Google APM program was proposed by former Google executive Marissa Mayer who started the program in 2002 to recruit fresh talents. Getting into the program is hard — it is estimated that 8,000 people apply to the APM program each year, and only 40-45 get accepted. This is the best part about the APM program — the ability to switch teams. I went to work in the office of the CEO, Sundar Pichai, and did product strategy-related work directly for him.

Sutton was satisfied, and settled back into position, headphones on, to start a scene in which her character, Marie-Laure, is listening to the radio way past her bedtime. “The most important light is the light you cannot see,” she says. Sutton, cast as the young Marie-Laure in “All the Light We Cannot See,” Netflix’s four-episode adaptation of Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, is blind. The actress playing the character 10 years later, Aria Mia Loberti, is also blind. But this production was the first time that blind lead characters in a major television show were being played by actors who were themselves blind, and the attention that went into accommodating those actors, and making the show as true as possible to the experiences of people who are blind, was significant.

And opera needs works like “10 Days,” which treats the medium with affection and respect while also chafing at its tropes throughout history. For this is an opera that jerks between beauty and terror — seamlessly under the baton of Daniela Candillari, leading an ensemble of about a dozen instrumentalists. The patients (members of Opera Philadelphia Chorus, led by Elizabeth Braden) can sing the same hymn with serenity in one scene and chaotic dissonance in the next, with few indications of which is the truer rendition. The most tragic of the patients is Lizzie (the mezzo-soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis, who sings with a lush and moving elegance that would make her ideal for mid-20th century American opera). Her repetitive ramblings come into logical focus with a long, crushing aria about the death of her daughter.

A recent cyberattack by a notorious hacking group targeted MGM, disrupting its Las Vegas locations. The hack sheds light on the way cybersecurity can play out in the real world. Rival casino owner Caesars Entertainment also disclosed last week to federal regulators that it was hit by a cyberattack Sept. 7. But Moody also noted that MGM Resorts reports annual revenues above $14 billion, which would mean it averages at least $270 million in revenues per week. Experts said the attacks exposed critical cybersecurity weaknesses at MGM and Caesars and shattered an image of casino invulnerability.
