CNN —Two people were killed and five others were wounded in a shooting in Washington, DC, early Sunday morning, police said. The shooting was reported around 3 a.m. near the intersection of 7th and P St., Northwest, near the Kennedy Recreation Center, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. The victims, all of whom were described as being adults, have been taken to local hospitals, Metropolitan Police Executive Assistant Chief Jeffrey Carroll said in a media briefing. WASHINGTON (AP) — An early morning shooting in Washington, D.C., killed two people and wounded five others on Sunday, police said. Officers responded to a reported shooting near the intersection of 7th and P Street Northwest around 3 a.m., Metropolitan Police Department Executive Assistant Chief Jeffery Carroll said at a news briefing from the scene. Seven people were shot at a single location and the surviving five victims, all adults, were transported to area hospitals, Carroll said. Carroll asked for the public's assistance in gathering information about the shooting. A social media post by the metropolitan police said the department had a description of a suspect moving on foot, but there was no immediate report of an arrest.

CNN —The US intelligence community assesses Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “viability as a leader” to be “in jeopardy,” according to its annual report on the national security threats facing the United States that was presented to Congress on Monday. The intelligence report notes that the Israeli population broadly supports the destruction of Hamas. It offers an around-the-world unclassified snapshot of how the intelligence community views the panoply of national security threats facing the United States. Beijing, according to the report, has more than tripled its export of goods with potential military use to Russia since Moscow launched its invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
