A man sleeps on chairs, in between subway platforms, at the 34th street and Broadway station in New York City, U.S., September 26, 2023. REUTERS/Shannon Stapleton/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsOct 18 (Reuters) - American families on average saw large gains in income and wealth from 2019 to 2022, a period marked by the severe disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic and massive government spending in response, and measures of financial fragility fell, a Federal Reserve survey published Wednesday showed. But the income gains were largest among the highest earning families, and fastest among white families, with income at the median actually registering small declines for both Hispanic and Black families, the Fed found in its latest Survey of Consumer Finances, conducted every three years. Median net worth rose sharply for all ethnic and income groups, the survey showed, though the lowest-earning 20% of households fared the worst, with a 2% decline on average over the period versus double-digit increases for all other income groups. CNN —The already historic Powerball jackpot climbed to an estimated $1.55 billion after there was no big winner in Saturday night’s drawing, leaving the third largest prize in the game’s history still up for grabs. The jackpot rolled for a 34th time Saturday, with no winners for the $1.4 billion jackpot. There have been no grand prize winners since July 19, when a single ticket sold in California nabbed a jackpot worth $1.08 billion. Overall, your odds of winning a Powerball prize of any amount are 1 in 24.9, the lottery says. The largest ever Powerball Jackpot was a $2.04 billion prize won November 2022 in California, followed by a $1.586 billion jackpot won in January 2016.

Bonds 'in greatest bear market of all time' - BofA

REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsLONDON, Oct 6 (Reuters) - The rout in the fixed-income market is causing the "greatest bond bear market of all time", Bank of America Global Research said in a note on Friday, as the peak-to-trough loss in the U.S. 30-year yield hit 50%. In its weekly "Flow Show" report, BofA said bond funds saw $2.5 billion in outflows in the week to Wednesday, citing EPFR data. BoFA's report showed that the current loss in 30-year bonds from the peak in the market in July 2020 to now far outpaces that of any previous bear market, making this one what it calls "the greatest of all time" and the "humiliation trade" right now is buying bonds. BofA said its "Bull & Bear indicator", dropped to a five-month low of 2.6 on poor equity breadth, outflows from emerging markets, high yield bonds and developed market stocks. BofA said it prefers to "sell the rips" in the upper half of S&P 500's (.SPX) range of 3,600-4,200 as they are "convinced the bear market has unfinished business".

Oct 4 (Reuters) - Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said he is worried about Bukayo Saka's availability for Sunday's league game against Manchester City after the forward went off injured in the first half of their 2-1 Champions League defeat by RC Lens. The 22-year-old also limped off the pitch in Arsenal's 4-0 league win at Bournemouth - which was his 87th consecutive Premier League appearance. Arteta has been criticised for not resting Saka often enough but the Spanish manager said all the players had been keen to play against Lens. "It was a big Champions League night," he added.
