CNN —Suzanne Somers, the actress who lit up the small screen on “Three’s Company” and one of TV’s most iconic fitness pitchwomen, has died, according to a statement provided to CNN from her longtime publicist R. Couri Hay. “Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of October 15th. In good ‘Company’Somers’ multifaceted career spanned decades, but she was best known for her role as Chrissy Snow on the hit ABC sitcom “Three’s Company” that ran through the late ’70s and early ‘80s. 1 show in the country, there was a collective consciousness because about half of everybody watching television on Tuesday nights were watching Three’s company,” she said in 2015 during a CNN interview. It took a while for people to realize I was acting.”Her time on “Three’s Company” ended in 1981 after Somers had asked producers for a raise to match Ritter’s salary the year prior.

The new rules will block some AI chips that fall just under current technical parameters while demanding companies report shipments of others, said the official, who provided information on condition of anonymity. Last year, government restrictions kept Nvidia (NVDA.O), the world's most valuable chipmaker, from shipping two of its most advanced AI chips to Chinese customers, chips that have become the industry standard for developing chatbots and other AI systems. The U.S. now plans to introduce new guidelines for AI chips that will restrict certain advanced datacenter AI chips not currently captured, the official said. The update to the October 2022 rules is also meant to cover AI chips as technology evolves. The new restrictions may also close a loophole that gives Chinese companies access to American artificial intelligence chips through Chinese units located overseas, as Reuters reported last week.

China's Ministry of Commerce has previously accused the U.S. of abusing export controls and called for it to "stop its unreasonable suppression of Chinese companies." Washington has been working to close other loopholes that allow the AI chips into China. They join Alamo employees at the Brooklyn theater, who voted last month to become part of Local 2179. At a time of labor action in the movie industry and beyond, union activity is expanding at movie theaters themselves, a trend which began during the pandemic. (AP) — Arkansas lawmakers on Thursday voted to audit the purchase of a $19,000 lectern for Gov. The Republican Party of Arkansas reimbursed the state for the purchase on Sept. 14, and Sanders’ office has called the use of a state credit card for the lectern an accounting error. Sanders’ office said it received the lectern in August. Sanders’ office has not said what features contributed to the lectern’s seemingly high cost. The lectern's purchase was uncovered by Matthew Campbell, a blogger and attorney who has sued Arkansas State Police and claimed the agency withheld documents about Sanders' security and travel.

Paul-Henri Nargeolet was the director of underwater research for RMS Titanic, Inc, the Georgia-based firm that recovers and exhibits Titanic artifacts. During the coronavirus pandemic, states were prohibited from removing people from Medicaid in exchange for receiving enhanced federal funding. States have 14 months to finish their backlog of eligibility reviews, according to guidelines from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
