The outage was related to a software update rolled out by CrowdStrike, a major US cybersecurity firm. The issue is specific to Falcon, one of CrowdStrike’s main software products, and is not impacting Mac or Linux operating systems, according to the advisory. US-based carriers American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Allegiant Airlines, SunCountry and Frontier Airlines all reported issues on Friday. CNN —When a cruise liner-size asteroid comes within 19,883 miles (32,000 kilometers) of Earth on April 13, 2029, it won’t be alone. The European Space Agency has announced that its new Ramses spacecraft may accompany the asteroid Apophis before and after its safe, albeit rather close, pass of Earth. Astronomers think that an asteroid this large comes within such proximity to Earth only once every 5,000 to 10,000 years. In September 2022, NASA’s DART mission intentionally slammed a spacecraft into Dimorphos, a moonlet asteroid that orbits a larger parent asteroid known as Didymos. “The Ramses mission concept reuses much of the technology, expertise and industrial and science communities developed for the Hera mission,” said Paolo Martino, spacecraft manager for Hera who will also work on the Ramses mission, in a statement.

CNN —Weapons experts have identified the remnants of two US-made munitions used in an Israeli missile strike Sunday on a school in central Gaza that according to local authorities killed at least 22 people. Hundreds were taking refuge at the former school in Nuseirat when it was struck by two missiles. CNN video from the scene Sunday showed an ambulance at the school, as people frantically searched through the rubble and destroyed makeshift shelters in the schoolyard. Then another missile hit. Ball told CNN there were also fragments of a US-made Hellfire missile at the site, including the top of the guidance system.

CNN —Actor James B. Sikking, best known for roles in the TV shows “Hill Street Blues” and “Doogie Howser, M.D.” has died at the age of 90. Sikking (center) as Howard Hunter in "Hill Street Blues." It featured diverse, colorful and three-dimensional characters – the policemen and policewomen of the rundown Hill Street Station. Sikking played Howard Hunter, head of the SWAT-like Emergency Action Team, over 144 episodes of the show, from 1981 to 1987. He played Dr. David Howser, father of teenage genius Doogie, played by Neil Patrick Harris.
