The Best Mesh Wi-Fi Systems for Your Home
  + stars: | 2023-08-03 | by ( David Murphy | ) www.wsj.com   time to read: +22 min
Our favorite mesh Wi-Fi system, TP-Link’s Deco XE200, supports Wi-Fi 6E, meaning it will deliver the best possible speeds for any device you can buy in mid-2023. Best overall mesh Wi-Fi systemBuy Side Top Pick TP-Link Deco XE200 $800 at Amazon $800 at b&h The XE200 offers the perfect mix of fast speeds, simple setup and app-based adjustments, offering the fastest mesh Wi-Fi at home for all the latest Wi-Fi 6E devices. Price: Our research found you’ll spend around $300 or less for a lower-price mesh system, or about $800 or less for a high-performance mesh system. We tested the mesh systems by first connecting a Google Pixel 7 Pro to a single Wi-Fi mesh access point (set up as the home’s primary router) from a handful of feet away within the same room. It’s still important that a mesh Wi-Fi system be able to deliver strong performance across as far a range as possible.

Arc is a buzzy web browser that sheds the traditional browser interface as we know it. Eight months ago, my browser tab hoarding was out of control. Finding an open tab was like playing hide and seek in the cluttered abyss of Chrome, each link harder to find than the last. Then came Arc, a new web browser recommended by Jason Spinell, manager of Slack's early-stage investment fund. If tidying guru Marie Kondo had a favorite web browser, it would be Arc.

The TASS news agency said it was the first time Apple had been fined for that offence. The company paused all product sales in Russia shortly after Moscow sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine in February 2022, and limited its Apple Pay service in Russia. Moscow has clashed with Big Tech for years over content, censorship, data and local representation in disputes that escalated after Russia sent its armed forces into Ukraine.

Chinese consumers are on average spending more on smartphones than ever before, according to new data, which bodes well for U.S. giant Apple in a critical market for its expensive iPhones. The average selling price of smartphones in mainland China was $450 last year and is expected to keep growing this year, market research firm Canalys said in a report last week. International Data Corporation told CNBC that the average selling price for smartphones in China was nearly $470 in the first quarter of this year, up about 5% year-on-year. The rise in ASP signals that the high-end part of the smartphone market remains resilient and that's where Apple competes. This trend is positive for Apple, which was the only vendor in the top five in China to record growth in shipments in the second quarter, Canalys said.

X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, has a new motto, and it sounds like it belongs to an '80s cover band. It's the latest change in Elon Musk's rebrand of Twitter into an "everything app." X — the app formerly known as Twitter — has a new slogan, and it sounds a little too much like a Bon Jovi song. the app's page in the Apple App Store now reads, a change from the former tagline of "Let's talk." Declarative and reminiscent of an '80s rock band, the phrase is Elon Musk's latest change as he rebrands Twitter to X.

In early July, Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the latest and perhaps most consequential product in Meta's history: a new model of Mark Zuckerberg. Silicon Valley Zuck was a husband and father with a legacy to build and protect at all costs. Silicon Valley Zuck was suddenly faced with something he'd never dealt with before, shrinking revenue. Still clinging to his persona as Silicon Valley Zuck, Zuckerberg engaged in an all-out media blitz to hawk his vision for the metaverse.
