"[Getting fired] was the best thing that could have happened to me, because it made me go all in on my business," Cole, 35, the CEO and founder of Atlanta-based vegan burger chain Slutty Vegan, tells CNBC Make It. Slutty Vegan is worth $100 million, Cole told Forbes last year. She'd also spent about four months building Slutty Vegan as a side hustle, hawking vegan burgers from a shared commercial kitchen. That's partly why Cole got fired, she told Make It last year — spending too much time focusing on her new business. Perhaps Slutty Vegan had long-term potential, Cole recalls thinking.

Oct 30 (Reuters) - A look at the day ahead in European and global markets from Wayne Cole. Most talk is it will stay on hold this time, but will discuss laying the groundwork for an eventual shift. Any tweak would see Japanese yields rise and add to the pain being felt in the Treasury market, where 10-year yields nudged up to 4.87% on Monday with scant sign of any safe haven bid. Analysts at NatWest Markets expect $885 billion of marketable borrowing in Q4 and $700 billion in Q1. It is also notable that the borrowing kept climbing even though the economy surprised everyone with its strength.

CNN —The federal judge overseeing Donald Trump’s federal election subversion criminal case has reinstated the gag order she issued on the former president earlier this month. US District Judge Tanya Chutkan on Sunday denied Trump’s request to pause the order while his appeal of it plays out. She also lifted a temporary freeze on the gag order that she issued on October 20 while she considered his request. The gag order, which was limited in scope, had prohibited Trump from making certain statements about the special counsel’s team or potential witnesses, including any comments that directly targeted court personnel, potential witnesses or the special counsel and his staff. This is a breaking story and will be updated.

PARIS, Oct 28 (Reuters) - From where they were at the end of their dismal warm-ups, England's World Cup was an unqualified success and they were within three minutes of one of the great sporting turnarounds. They arrived amid the gloom of five defeats in six games but finished on a high with six wins out of seven. The skewed nature of the draw obviously favoured them, and reaching the semi-finals looked possible and even probable regardless of their form based on their World Cup history and the quality of players in the squad. Already assured of top spot in their group, England laboured against Samoa before snatching a late victory. "I always believed we would be right... We were clear that the World Cup isn't played in August," he said after clinching third place.

"The frustration is so massive," Pochettino told talkSPORT radio, saying a strong first-half performance gave way to a lack of calm after the break. Defender Marc Cucurella shot straight at Mark Flekken after a lofted pass by playmaker Cole Palmer. But Brentford soaked up everything Chelsea could throw at them with centre forward Nicolas Jackson, back in the starting 11 after an injury, unable to provide much of a threat. Brentford's third league win at Stamford Bridge in as many seasons meant that they leap-frogged their neighbours into 10th spot, while Chelsea dropped to 11th ahead of the rest of the weekend's fixtures. One name linked to the club is Brentford and England centre forward Ivan Toney who scored 20 times in the league last season but who is currently serving an eight-month ban for breaching betting rules.

Tourists visiting the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, the magnificent snow-white cathedral towering over northern Paris, tend to descend the Butte Montmartre the way they came up. But once they’ve had enough, they’ll most likely make their way down the south side of the hill, following the path of the funicular toward the recognizable sights of central Paris. This Paris exists mostly outside the gaze of tourists, the whopping 12.7 million people who visited the area this summer. But they refuse to abide by the half-theme-park, half-museum ambience that prevails in much of central Paris. Here, another Paris is alive and kicking.

Of course the one that spoiled that streak was the agonising one-point semi-final defeat by South Africa, but it is still an England team unrecognisable in confidence and execution from the one that endured a dismal August warm-up campaign. England eventually advanced as pool winners, then beat Fiji before their Springbok loss, while Argentina improved to beat Japan to clinch second place then see off Wales in the quarter-final. Borthwick and Pumas coach Michael Cheika followed their defeats by immediately stressing that they were treating the bronze final as a match they were taking very seriously. Meanwhile, House Republicans are pushing for a full plate of 12 separate funding bills to keep agencies running until Sept. 30, 2024, the end of the fiscal year. This rare feat requires close negotiation between the narrowly Republican-controlled House and the Senate, which has a two-vote Democratic majority. But the fiscal warfare between the Senate and conservative House Republicans that has raged since January is unlikely to end soon. Significant changes by Congress to Biden's request for aid to Ukraine and more money for border security were anticipated. Republicans attack Biden's border security spending, saying it falls far short in shutting down illegal border crossings and the flow of drugs such as fentanyl.

Markets are wagering both the U.S. Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank are done with hiking. HAWKISH MESSAGINGThe recent messaging from the central bank has been on the hawkish side. The biggest contributors to the third quarter inflation were fuel, rents, and electricity. Fuel prices rose 7.2% from a year ago, reversing two quarters of price falls, with the conflict in the Middle East potentially set to further stoke inflationary pressures. The central bank forecast in August that inflation was only projected to return to the top of the bank's target band of 2-3% in late 2025.
