Irene was over 50 but couldn't come to terms with the label "Grandma," and I was confused. She was "Grandma Irene," so Irene was begrudgingly stuck. Now that I'm hitting some senior milestones, I'm beginning to understand my mother-in-law a bit better. I'm sure my choices are foreign to my children and son-in-law, but give them a few years, and I'm sure they'll catch on. I'm sure I'll also struggle with the label "Grandma" when the time comes, too.

CNN —Officials in New York launched an investigation Saturday after a person died in a small plane crash in Niagara County. It is unclear how many divers were on board before the crash, Niagara County Sheriff Michael Filicetti said at a news conference Saturday. A brush fire also reportedly began around the crash site, according to the release. The sheriff called the plane crash “an unfortunate incident” and added that local and federal law enforcement partners are working to determine what led to the crash. The pilot’s name was not released pending family notification, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office’s statement.

CNN —Investigators believe the gunman who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump may have used a drone on a reconnaissance trip to the rally site on the day of the shooting, a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation told CNN. Investigators searching Thomas Crooks’ belongings found a drone in his car. The discoveries of the ladder, backpack and drone come as investigators are struggling to find a motive for Crooks’ assault. After the shooting, multiple law enforcement sources said investigators found a bulletproof vest, three fully loaded magazines and two remote-controlled explosive devices in Crooks’ car. Additionally, after a search of his residence, investigators discovered another bulletproof vest, another remote-controlled explosive device and a 3D printer, according to multiple law enforcement sources.
