A car pulled up recently outside a modest restaurant in the state of Guárico in Venezuela’s sprawling savanna. The driver shouted from behind the wheel: “Are you the ones whose business was closed by the government? I want a picture with you!”Bounding out of the car, the man pulled close to Corina Hernández, 44, one of the owners of the restaurant. “We are all outraged,” he told her. Corina and her sister Elys Hernández have emerged as unlikely political folk heroes just as Venezuela is heading into its most competitive election in years.

"Last night, I bemoaned that there aren't enough stocks that are compelling away from tech," Cramer said. And this week's numbers suggest that higher for longer might be too inflexible a strategy for a suddenly gassed economy." Lennar reports on Monday and KB Home reports on Tuesday. Housing starts data will be released on Thursday, and Accenture , Kroger , Darden and Jabil will report earnings. Cramer said three firms slashed their price targets for Olive Garden parent Darden this week, which usually doesn't bode well for the quarter.

“I believe he’ll be a pro-life president in the future also.”Many senior Trump administration alumni and allies are now mapping out and drafting policy options for a second Trump term. A second Trump term would also put back in place and expand restrictions on Title X grants – federal funds for public and nonprofit groups that provide family planning. Resurrecting these actions in a second Trump would almost entirely be up to the discretion of whomever he appoints to lead the relevant federal agencies. With Roe v. Wade’s protections erased, anti-abortion activists would like a second Trump administration to push harder than it did before – especially in restricting access to mifepristone. Abortion rights advocates worry he could play an outsize role shaping abortion restrictions in a potential second Trump administration.

After a big week for stocks related to artificial intelligence, CNBC's Jim Cramer told investors it may be time to ring the register for many of these companies that have seen massive gains. "Remember, this remarkable, albeit limited, narrow, year — you don't want to spoil it by refusing to ring the register on every one of your stocks that may be AI." Cramer reviewed the significant surges in the AI sector this week, starting with Apple's record-breaking run after the company announced new AI programming that could boost iPhone sales. "We know we've been feeling a little greedy, and it's quite unbecoming — when you have big gains, you need to take something off the table," Cramer said. "I am still a true believer in Nvidia, but I don't want to be oblivious to the scale of this massive run."

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Tuesday explained why he continues to be bullish about pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly . Continually confident about Eli Lilly because of the enormous success of its weight loss and diabetes drugs, he said the company's new Alzheimer's treatment has the potential to further boost business. On Monday, a panel of advisors to the Food and Drug Administration unanimously recommended Eli Lilly's Alzheimer's drug, currently known as donanemab. "I think this advisory committee decision on their Alzheimer's drug does precisely that." Eli Lilly did not immediately respond to request for comment.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Tuesday explained that Apple does not need to chase enterprise customers to see gains, saying it does well to target individual consumers. Apple shares pulled back 1.9%on Monday after the company unveiled new artificial intelligence offerings at its developers conference. The stock has suffered this year as investors worried about iPhone sales in China and the tech giant's progress on the AI front. "They're not chasing the enterprise, and these Apple haters have no idea how to evaluate a tech company that's like that." Users will likely need to upgrade their phones to take full advantage of Apple Intelligence, which could help drive sales.

CNBC's Jim Cramer reviewed Apple 's Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday, explaining why the tech giant's announcements made him more excited about the stock, which has long been a favorite of his. Apple unveiled its highly-anticipated foray into artificial intelligence, which it's calling Apple Intelligence. For example, Apple Intelligence can generate photos based on a user's photo library, perform new tasks and use context to determine which notifications are most important. Cramer was impressed by all of these programs, saying the new technology is a huge development in AI use beyond enterprise. "For me, this Apple conference marked the beginning of generative AI for personal use, not corporate use," Cramer said.

After the S&P 500 knocked three stocks from its ranks last week, CNBC's Jim Cramer told investors why it is usually not a good idea to stick with these companies. "When you see a stock that gets expelled from the S&P 500, please don't bother to try to catch a bottom — you're most likely catching a falling knife," he said. The S&P 500 evaluates the performance of roughly 500 of the largest publicly traded stocks and is seen as a bellwether for the market. He also reviewed several other recent S&P 500 castoffs and found that most of those stocks have also underperformed. Although buying an index fund is usually considered passive investing, Cramer said the S&P 500 is more actively managed than many realize.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Friday named packaged food stocks that might be good additions to portfolios, especially if the economy is headed for a slowdown. "For example, the packaged food plays." According to Cramer, Campbell Soup reported solid earnings but weaker guidance, due in part to its pricey acquisition of pasta sauce maker Sovos Brands. He stressed that the whole packaged food group usually does well in a slowdown and suggested also looking into Tyson Foods , Hormel , General Mills , Conagra and Kellanova . "Ultimately, I feel incrementally more positive on the packaged food space after hearing from Campbell's and Smucker," he Cramer said.

On the eve of the May jobs report, CNBC's Jim Cramer reminded investors about the tricky balancing act the Federal Reserve is attempting to pull off — bringing down inflation without seriously damaging the economy. Investors are rooting for weak figures so the Fed will be more inclined to implement interest rate cuts. But Cramer said Wall Street should remember what is at stake for consumers, especially those with low incomes, when it comes to this data and the Fed decisions. According to Cramer, it is hard for retailers to correctly dub consumers as weak or strong because they are familiar with their own customers, not the broader population. Cramer continued, saying, "the gulf is wide" between consumers, but suggested that many wealthy investors do not know enough about this dichotomy.

Chubb CEO Evan Greenberg told CNBC's Jim Cramer on Thursday that climate change is one factor that's driving the price of insurance. "Climate change has created tremendous volatility, and it continues to evolve," Greenberg said. "And the concentrations of values in areas where, where the climate – the impact of the climate – is greatest continues to increase." Known for insuring businesses and wealthy individuals, Chubb is also a major insurer of agriculture, Greenberg said. "And so, therefore, reflecting loss cost, when you think general inflation, when you think climate change, when you think litigation, that is driving the pricing of insurance."

Four years on, hybrid work has become common, and the strain on property owners is intensifying. While the number of office buildings reaching critical stages of distress remains small, the figure has increased sharply this year. And investors, lawyers and bankers expect the pain to grow in the coming months because demand for office space remains weak and interest rates and other costs are higher than they have been in many years. The problems could be especially severe for older buildings with lots of vacant space and big loan repayments coming up. Empty and nearly empty office buildings also hurt restaurants and other businesses that served the companies and workers who occupied those spaces.

Australia on Wednesday announced it had dropped its legal battle against Elon Musk's X to have graphic footage of a church stabbing in Sydney removed from the social media platform. The dispute was widely seen as a test case for the Australian government's ability to enforce its online safety standards on the social media giants. Julie Inman-Grant, Commissioner of Australia's online safety regulator, said in a statement that after weighing "multiple considerations," she decided that discontinuing the proceedings would "likely achieve the most positive outcome for the online safety of all Australians, especially children." I stand by my investigators and the decisions eSafety made," Inman-Grant said, referencing Australia's independent regulator for online safety. Last month, the Musk-owned social media platform won a reprieve in Australia when a court refused to extend a temporary order blocking videos of a Sydney church stabbing globally.

American Airlines CEO Robert Isom offered flight attendants immediate 17% wage increases on Wednesday as contract talks continue without a deal, bringing the prospect of a strike closer. The airline and the Association of Professional Flight Attendants have struggled to reach a new contract agreement, differing on major issues, such as pay. Flight attendants haven't received contract raises since before the pandemic. "This means we've offered increased pay for all flight attendants and are not asking your union for anything in return. U.S. airline pilots largely locked in new labor deals last year, while flight attendants at American, United Airlines and Alaska Airlines are still negotiating.

Brisbane, Australia CNN —Australia’s eSafety commissioner has dropped her legal bid to force Elon Musk’s social media site X to hide a violent video of a church stabbing in Sydney from global users. The eSafety commissioner had wanted X to hide the video for users beyond Australian borders. The incident set off a riot outside the church that authorities said was stoked by the rapid distribution of the video online. “The Video is, and at all material times has been, widely accessible to persons in Australia other than on the X platform, including in its full form on other social media services and various websites,” court documents said. The Assyrian Orthodox cleric was quoted in court filings as supporting the distribution of the video as an exercise in free speech.
