Discovery teamed up with Disney to create an anticipated Max-Hulu-Disney+ bundle, which launched in late July for $17 per month. AdvertisementThere were less than 2 million net streaming subscribers additions in the US in Q2, according to Antenna. In August, Hulu's cancellation rate rose to its highest level since January, and Max's churn rate jumped to its highest mark since November. AdvertisementWhen taken in the context of Antenna's other data, it looks like some Hulu and Max customers are canceling their subscriptions so they can subscribe to the Max-Hulu-Disney+ bundle without paying twice. The Max-Hulu-Disney+ bundle is one of several streaming packages that media giants have conjured up.

“The (US intelligence community) considers AI a malign influence accelerant, not yet a revolutionary influence tool,” an ODNI official told reporters. Iran, for example, has used AI to generate content in Spanish about immigration, which Tehran perceives as a divisive US political issue, the ODNI official said. Russia has generated the most AI content related to the US election of any foreign power, according to the ODNI official. Foreign operatives have also embraced plenty of old-school influence techniques this election cycle, such as staging videos rather than generating them with AI. This isn’t the first general US election where foreign powers have considered deploying AI capabilities.

Four top staff members of Mark Robinson's campaign for North Carolina governor have stepped down, the campaign announced Sunday as the candidate faces calls from Republicans to do the same. The campaign said the staff members who stepped down are Chris Rodriguez, campaign manager; Heather Whillier, finance director; Jason Rizk, deputy campaign manager; and Conrad Pogorzelski III, general consultant and senior adviser. Some Republican lawmakers have expressed concern over the allegations, but the North Carolina Republican Party emphasized in a statement shortly after the story was published that Robinson "has categorically denied the allegations." Democrats have sought to link Robinson to former President Donald Trump, releasing new advertisements highlighting Trump's previous praise for Robinson, who is North Carolina's lieutenant governor. Democrats see North Carolina as a state that can possibly be flipped in the presidential race.

Harris builds momentum over TrumpWith just over six weeks until Election Day, a new national NBC News poll finds Vice President Kamala Harris with a 5-point lead over former President Donald Trump among registered voters, 49% to 44%. Still, Trump holds important advantages on the economy and inflation, as voters rank cost of living as their top concern in the election. But other key voting blocs — including Latino voters, seniors and independents — haven’t changed as much. Mark Robinson “has an obligation to defend himself” following reports last week that Robinson made lewd posts on a pornographic website over a decade ago. Vice President Kamala Harris has proposed offering $25,000 in down payment assistance to first-time homebuyers and incentives to homebuilders to construct more housing for first-time homebuyers. Former President Donald Trump has said he would lower housing costs by opening federal land to development, rolling back regulations and reducing overall inflation. Ted Purdom, from San Anselmo, California, graduated in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in English and enrolled in an overseas language program, aiming to learn Spanish. He ended up in Mallorca, the capital of the Balearic islands off the east coast of Spain, for the nine-month program. A friend told him about another program that placed American “language coaches” in Spain, called “Auxiliares de Conversación,” (conversation assistants), run by the Spanish Ministry of Education. So that November he opened The Bridge English Academy in Manacor, converting a former wine store into classrooms to give English language courses to locals. Then there’s the fact that the islanders’ first language isn’t Spanish, but Mallorquin, a dialect of Catalan.
