Julia DiPreteI'll be honest — I was slightly underwhelmed when our taxi first pulled up to the hotel. The property was huge, but I thought the exterior looked more like a 1970s apartment block than a five-star hotel. The vast space felt like a cross between Scandinavian minimalism and the Palace of Versailles in the best possible way. Modern lines met gold details everywhere, and it worked. Our room wasn't quite ready, but I learned our stay had additional perks because I booked through the AmEx Travel Fine Hotels and Resorts program.

Gary Friedman hates meetings. A 66-year-old with apparently limitless energy and a perpetual tan, Mr. Friedman is the chief executive of RH, one of the country’s largest high-end furniture sellers, and he never holds meetings. That’s a typical stretch for Mr. Friedman’s adventures with his architecture and design team, a group of about 20 executives overseeing one of the priciest expansions in the history of American retail. The company is doubling the number of stores, called “galleries” in RH speak, with 35 new ones in the works. He wants to forge a brand that is so ubiquitous — RH restaurants, RH hotels, RH clothing — that its impact is global.

"Cruise demand is also tied to a broader consumer desire for accumulating experiences rather than objects," Farley wrote. "We can see that 2024 is not just benefiting from pent up demand, because that is completely new demand," Farley said. Melius Research is also bullish on the industry's future and believes cruise lines are set for continued margin expansion over the next several years. However, cruise pricing is holding up, analyst Jamie Rollo said in a note Friday. Earlier this month, the cruise operator lifted its full-year earnings forecast, citing strong demand and an improved outlook for the year.

The next wave of Disney theme park expansion in the U.S. is primed to be in California rather than Florida. The decision requires Disney to put a minimum of $1.9 billion in theme parks, lodging, entertainment, shopping and dining within 10 years. In Florida, Disney has had a more difficult time navigating the political landscape — leading to Disney World development tie-ups. In its fiscal 2024 second quarter , Disney's Parks & Experience division, which includes theme parks, resorts, cruises, hotels, and consumer products grew sales by nearly 10% to $8.93 billion and operating income by more than 12% to $2.29 billion. "Comcast's exposure to, and reliance on the Theme Parks segment is about to expand dramatically," according to MoffettNathanson.

"One in nearly every 5 dollars spent on Ramp cards is related to flights, hotels, entertainment related to travel," Glyman said. That ultimately led Ramp to the Priceline partnership and new platform feature. The new product, called Ramp Travel, utilizes AI and automation to help streamline and simplify the process of booking and doing expenses for business travel, with Priceline providing Ramp users access to airline, hotel, and other travel inventory. The companies see an opportunity to take share from corporate travel offerings that often rely on high fees that guarantee control over where employees stay, or the carriers which travelers fly with. While a majority of Ramp customers have never raised venture capital, the average size of companies using the platform has more than doubled in the past three years, he said.

Inflation in Turkey topped 75% in May in what economists expect to be the peak before prices start to ease. Consumer prices rose 75.45% in May on an annual basis and 3.37% on a monthly basis, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute, a government agency. Economists had previously forecast that inflation in the country of 85 million would peak around 75%. Turkey's central bank has kept its interest rate at 50% since March, citing the continuing need to counter climbing inflation in the country. The bank said at the time that "tight monetary stance will be maintained until a significant and sustained decline in the underlying trend of monthly inflation is observed."

Here's how you can maximize your vacation time, whether paid or unpaid — both for efficiency and overall quality, according to experts. 'Play a little Tetris'Grouping vacation days with other guaranteed time off helps extend your time away without sacrificing additional paid time off, experts said. Pace PTO in a 'measured' wayPacing vacation days throughout the year in a "measured" way helps prevent burnout, Saunders said. Workers who don't get many days off (perhaps 10 total, for example) may want to consider taking one longer trip that requires four or five PTO days and bundling their remaining days with paid holidays, Saunders said.
