It’s not hard to conclude that former President Donald Trump himself makes it nearly impossible to have the type of debate Vance and Walz participated in Tuesday night. But Trump has never participated in a debate that didn’t devolve into something more pugilistic and even immature and juvenile at times. Going into this debate, I assumed that both vice presidential nominees would be more focused on the tops of the tickets. It's an interesting decision given how it seems as if the Trump campaign team desperately wants to re-attach Biden’s unpopular brand to Harris. I think Trump and his team are convinced Harris needs another debate more than Trump does.

CNN —A federal appeals court in Washington, DC, on Wednesday allowed a prediction market to offer election betting, denying a government watchdog’s request to halt a ruling that made way for legal political gambling in the United States. It is unclear whether the New York-based startup will launch more election markets. “US presidential election markets are legal. Because the sources of information that election markets absorb can be “opaque and unreliable,” like polls with undisclosed methodologies or fake news reports, Schwartz suggested that they can be uniquely susceptible to manipulation. Trump recently got the details of a 2020 Iranian missile strike on US forces wrong. AdvertisementFollowing Iran's massive ballistic missile strike on Israel, former President Donald Trump found himself discussing the 2020 Iranian attack on US forces in Iraq. The attack, which was in response to the killing of Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani, was the largest ballistic missile attack ever against US forces abroad. One service member who was affected by the Iranian attack told CBS News a few years ago that he was struggling with vision problems, memory loss, constant headaches, and hearing issues. Trump's comments about the 2020 strike came on the heels of Iran's massive missile strike on Israel, which involved over 180 ballistic missiles.

It's no secret the labor market is pretty brutal for a lot of job-seekers today, and the contentious election cycle could be making it worse. Online, candidates say they're sending out applications en masse without much luck. Meanwhile, businesses are slowing their hiring initiatives as they brace for uncertainty around the results of the November presidential elections, according to hiring experts. Businesses may be even more cautious than ever given "the change of of primary candidates at the 11th hour" that could be "making companies more hesitant to know what's coming ahead of time." This could disproportionately impact hiring at companies that do business internationally, Boggs says, as well as the search for senior leadership candidates.

Among debate watchers, Walz remains the candidate who’s seen more positively and as more in touch with their needs and vision for the country. He was also narrowly seen as doing a better job than Walz of defending his running mate. Both men, the poll finds, are viewed by a majority of debate watchers as qualified to assume the presidency if needed. Debate watchers came away from the debate with roughly neutral views of Vance: 41% rated him favorably and 44% unfavorably.
