Kave and fellow American ex-pat Jennifer Crain are the co-founders of Abricot, a cocktail bar in Paris' 10th arrondissement. The bar has a small staff: three hourly employees and three contract employees. A mutual connection virtually introduced Kave and Crain shortly after, and the pair started expanding Crain's idea for a Parisian cocktail bar. They found a location and named their business Abricot, which is French slang for female genitalia. The delays ate up most of the initial investment, Crain says, as Abricot paid rent for over a year before it opened.

Delinquent borrowers are often renters, with shorter credit histories and lower credit limits, making them more likely to be financially vulnerable and miss a payment, the researchers said. Over the last year, roughly 9.1% of credit card balances transitioned into delinquency, the New York Fed found. Among the millennials transitioning into delinquency, many also entered the labor market during the Great Recession and may be experiencing the prolonged negative effects of graduating into an economic downturn, the New York Fed researchers said. But prosecutors had no direct evidence tying Black to the location of the murder, an Ohio appellate court later said. In many cases, prosecutors themselves don't even have access to the source code and haven't reviewed the underlying technology. Back in Akron, the judge in Rankin's case ordered the Cybercheck evidence excluded after prosecutors failed to turn over the source code. The Summit County Prosecutor's Office declined to comment when reached by BI. It's unclear how many others may be behind bars because of Cybercheck evidence that was never rigorously scrutinized.

The plot revealed by US prosecutors on Tuesday adds to a growing list of detailed Iranian plans to allegedly kill Trump, according to national security officials. Although Merchant is a Pakistani national, prosecutors say he spent time in Iran and has family there. Once in the United States, Merchant allegedly contacted someone who he believed would assist him in the murder-for-hire plot. Merchant allegedly then told the confidential human source that the work was not a one-time opportunity and made a “finger gun” motion with his hand. Merchant planned to leave the country before the assassination, prosecutors say, but was arrested before he could go.

The discovery of the dead cub in the middle of Manhattan made headlines in October of 2014, but investigators at the time were not able to determine how it got there. The agency said it's against the law to dispose of a dead bear the way Kennedy said he did. According to experts, while it can be costly, new windows can provide significant benefits like lower outside noise and better energy efficiency for the entire home. Wood windows have a traditional look that can be styled with just about any color. “You just need to keep them clean.”The only minor difference between vinyl and wood windows regarding maintenance is sealing and painting. Alexander says that if you have wood windows, they should be sealed or painted if they are exposed to rain or snow. According to experts, a window’s insulating value is called its U-factor, and lower numbers have the best insulation for energy efficiency.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday declined to intervene in a long-shot lawsuit brought by Missouri attempting to block legal proceedings in former President Donald Trump's hush money case in New York. Brandon Bell / Getty ImagesNew York Judge Juan Merchan issued an initial gag order in March ahead of Trump’s trial. Bailey took the rare step of trying to sue the state of New York before the Supreme Court, which has jurisdiction over disputes between states. It would have been highly unusual for the Supreme Court to allow a state to interfere with judicial proceedings in another state. Before the trial, Trump was fined for violating the original gag order, especially as it related to Cohen, one of the key witnesses.

Vice President Kamala Harris will set out this week on a swing-state campaign blitz, giving her a far heavier travel schedule than her opponent, former President Donald Trump. Harris’ travel this week will take her to seven states in less than a fourth of the time. Reached for comment, Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung pointed to the overall difference in the number of Trump and Harris campaign trips. Harris' campaign swing is also consistent with how candidates typically pick up the pace as the election draws closer, said Aleigha Cavalier, a Democratic strategist at the strategy and marketing agency Precision Strategies. But she said Harris' travel pace compared to Trump's and Biden's is "a real advantage."

Those who are moving are typically younger, lower-income families looking for cheaper housing. Hidden costs of moving are piling on top of higher overt costs like mortgages, the analysts note. With fewer people moving, furniture retail and other moving-related sectors are taking a hit, with spending on home furnishings down 10% year-over-year. Those who are moving have "relatively lower spending power due to being younger and/or on lower incomes," the analysts said. AdvertisementThe analysts said, though, that if would-be movers see any easing of "hidden costs," furniture and appliance spending could bounce back.

In 1973, the median size of completed single-family homes was 1,525 square feet, according to US Census data. But as the cost of buying a home has exploded and McMansions have fallen out of favor, homebuilders have reversed course, building smaller homes with an eye to first-time buyers. Today, smaller, often more affordable homes under 1,000 square feet are harder to come by in most US suburbs. According to an NAHB survey, 17% of homebuilders said they built homes on smaller lots in 2023 to support home sales, and 14% said they built more townhouses. TEL AVIV — Israel is bracing for a potential multiday attack by Iran and its ally Hezbollah following the assassination of two senior militant leaders last week, an Israeli official told NBC News. Israel killed Shukr in a strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut last Tuesday. Hours later, news broke that Haniyeh was killed in Tehran in the early hours Wednesday morning. The call was “tense,” according to the Israeli official. This time, the Israeli official said the attacks could come over several days, with Hezbollah attacking Israel from the north while Iran’s longer-range weapons are fired from the east.
