When a cyclist named Rien Schuurhuis rolls up to the start of this weekend’s world championship road race, he’ll be wearing a curious jersey that no one in the peloton has ever seen before. That’s because the crisp white-and-yellow on his back will represent the sport’s newest, and smallest, racing nation. On Sunday in Wollongong, Australia—against the likes of France, Belgium, and Italy—Schuurhuis is set to be the one-man cycling team of the Vatican.
All of us have had to — or will — deal with a frustrating work situation at some point in our careers, whether it's a loud deskmate, an unproductive meeting or a project that went off the rails. There's a better approach to handling difficult conversations at work, Chris Capossela, Microsoft's chief marketing officer, argues — and it starts with clear, confident communication. Capossela has spent his 31-year career at Microsoft mastering the art of communication, even serving as a speechwriter for then-CEO Bill Gates between 1997 and 1999. Before Capossela initiates or participates in a difficult work conversation, he starts with an email. I'd love to meet with you and hear your thoughts on what those steps might look like.

Iced drinks now make up about 70% of Starbucks' sales, Schultz said, and they're particularly popular with younger Gen Z and Millenial customers, driving sales growth. To better accommodate this demand for iced drinks, Starbucks unveiled new, faster methods of making cold brew and frappuccinos at investor day. The company is adding its new proprietary Siren System that it says will cut the time and effort needed to make cold drinks. The Siren System includes a custom ice dispenser, milk dispenser, and faster blenders to expedite the process of making frappuccinos and other cold drinks. The process to make a grande Pink Drink will go from 52 seconds and 11 steps to 24 seconds and 9 steps, Starbucks says.
In the 19th and early 20th centuries, astronomers catalogued the universe on glass photographic plates. Compared to faint objects stamped on plates, the James Webb Space Telescope's images show dramatic improvements in telescope technology. The exposures were made on glass plates coated with photosensitive emulsions, with astronomers later developing the plates like film in a darkroom. Compared with Webb's infrared images, photographic plates of the same parts of the night sky show how developments in technology led to clearer and deeper views of the cosmos. 10 best cuisines in the world

Of course, it’s subjective according to personal tastes, but this is CNN Travel’s take on some of the best food cultures and destinations around the world. United StatesAmerica knows how to take a good food -- for instance, the hamburger -- and make it even better. With influences from China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar and a royal culinary tradition, Thai cuisine is the best of many worlds. The best part about eating Thai food in Thailand, though, is the hospitality. Sun, beach, service with a smile and a plastic bag full of som tam – that’s the good life.
But a comedian craves the sound of laughter, and Mr. Newhart, though happily deep into his golf-playing years, cannot stay away from the stand-up circuit. It's like Russian roulette -- you're out there and it's working and you're saying, 'Thank God the bullet's not in the chamber.' "Mr. Newhart built his career on a persona that would avoid tension and thrills at all cost. ("You take a pinch of tobacco and you stuff it up your nose and it makes you sneeze? Yeah, I imagine it would, Walt!")
