In 2014 and 2015, suicide rates at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology surpassed the national average, which was about 13 deaths per year, according to CDC data. Easier access to guns is linked to increased suicide rates, as well, as gun suicides reached an all-time high in 2022, according to CDC data.

The study wasn’t peer reviewed, and other research has showed that donor-conceived children generally do as well as their peers. The Amazon, the world's largest rainforest, is regarded by scientists as a bulwark against climate change because its dense vegetation absorbs carbon and emits oxygen. The five researchers predicting a 2026 recovery said the effects of the drought could endure even longer if El Nino is prolonged. That would release huge amounts of carbon dioxide, contributing to climate change and wiping out a wealth of plant and animal species found only in the Amazon.

Decades of treatment of military veterans and sexual assault survivors have left little doubt that traumatic memories function differently from other memories. The team conducted brain scans of 28 people with PTSD while they listened to recorded narrations of their own memories. Some of the recorded memories were neutral, some were simply “sad,” and some were traumatic. The brain scans found clear differences, the researchers reported in a paper published on Thursday in the journal Nature Neuroscience. The people listening to the sad memories, which often involved the death of a family member, showed consistently high engagement of the hippocampus, part of the brain that organizes and contextualizes memories.

Khan came to prominence in 2017 after she published a Yale Law Review article called “Amazon’s Antitrust Paradox.” Her article pointed out that while Amazon’s business was extraordinarily customer-friendly, the company’s dominance enabled it to control increasingly large swaths of the ecosystem in which it operated. Shouldn’t the government be able to limit the impacts of Amazon’s market power on vendors and workers even if its consumers aren’t unhappy? Like the Justice Department, the Federal Trade Commission also has the power to police antitrust violations. I attended the famous Harvard-Yale football game as a Yale freshman for the first time. I went tailgating, stripped in the stadium, and chanted as Yale won the game. The rival weekend is one of my favorite events of college so far. Nov 26 (Reuters) - The families of three Palestinian students attending U.S. colleges who were shot on Saturday in Vermont called on U.S. officials to investigate the incident as a hate crime, as they awaited updates on their children's recovery on Sunday. Burlington police have not identified or apprehended a shooter, and have not commented on a possible motive. "We call on law enforcement to conduct a thorough investigation, including treating this as a hate crime. The students had been speaking Arabic and wearing the traditional Palestinian keffiyeh, the Palestinian foreign ministry said on Sunday, calling on U.S. authorities to hold those responsible to account. The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, a U.S.-based advocacy organization, also called on state and federal law enforcement to investigate the shooting as a hate crime in a statement on Sunday.
